Since then it's evolved into a fully realized system on Twitch, where people can subscribe to give the streamer $5 a month, have their name read out, have access to special emoticons they can use anywhere on Twitch, be able to join the exclusive chat room of only subscribers to the streamer, be able to chat while the streamer's chat room is in subscriber-only mode, and sometimes be part of drawings to join games with the streamer. For Youtubers in particular, donations are not really a notable part of their income. Logan Paul probably gets paid millions because Youtube earns tens of millions off of advertisers who want to get their ads in front of the millions of Logan Paul viewers, and Google is totally willing to give Logan a big cut of the ad revenue. Youtubers will do whatever bullshit they have to in order to keep their audience, but the money all comes from getting X people to watch a thing and advertisers being all too willing to shell out hundreds of millions of dollars if you can prove to them you have a big enough audience.

I had a friend who's pictures were raided for a site like that and when I told her (assuming she would tell them to take down the pictures) it turns out it was real and she did adult cam shows  Our friendship never recovered from that.
