If you look you are acknowledging that other people/objects exist and you might yield for them, either for legal reasons or self-preservation reasons. Admitting this is a huge loss of face, as it's other people's jobs to go around you who.

I think, by law, since the pedestrian is now riding the bike , it is now the pedestrian they must arrest as the final owner disrupting traffic.

If the sample size is large enough for 4.4% to be significantly different from 12.5%, then the students are not uninformed, they are misinformed. In my anecdotal experience, this is the case. My Chinese friends/housemates in college had some really off-base ideas about these subjects, especially regarding abortion. They insisted that if a woman gets an abortion, or even uses birth control, there is a very high chance that she will become barren. This isn't the sort of conclusion that one naturally arrives at due to lack of information. When I tried to dispel such thoughts, I was met with adamant resistance, despite providing clear evidence from data easily found online. Western lies to encourage promiscuity and all that. There's pretty clearly a strong propaganda campaign being pushed here. Regarding general "how to do the sex" type issues, yeah they're pretty clueless. One of my friends said she had a colleague (female) who, by age 32, never had sex and didn't really even know what it was until my friend explicitly told her that it's "penis goes into vagina." Much shock.

Given that she was usually 20-30 years younger than her partners, this wouldn't be too difficult. For the second half, personality and later fame would be large factors as well as the fact that she was still probably much younger and better looking that the women she was replacing. Also if your plan is to sleep to the top, or to at least get ahead (and not wanting to have a real long-lasting relationship), you can just act your way into being the perfect partner, like kimcicle said.

Keep in mind there are a few things at play here: 1) This is a deeply, deeply sexist country. Even the young people are still largely sexist. If the woman doesn't get wet, it is not assumed to be the man's fault for, y'know, not turning on the woman, it's simply assumed that the woman has something wrong with her. This is a country where if a woman tries to touch herself during sex she's liable to get emotionally if not physically abused for it. 2) As mentioned before, sex ed is terrible. Nobody knows how things work down there and therefore nobody knows what actually causes wetness. 3) Many kids are pushed away from having relationships until they are literally done with college. After this period, the men are pushed to get cars, houses and jobs ASAP while the women are pushed to marry men who have those things already and make babies ASAP. Because of this timing and the enormous adoration of "first love" romanticism (the influence of romantic drama shows cannot be understated with this, and they even influence people's ideas of sex in that "we just kiss, and the camera pans away, and we just... do it, it comes naturally right?"), many young people end up marrying as virgins (less common in the bigger cities but still really common - even rich folks will follow this as "arranged" marriages are pretty common for family politics, and virginity is still very much valued). COMBINE all of these and you get couples who are inexperienced, too shy to ask, don't know there are places that sell lube/sex toys, too afraid of face loss to use said lube/sex toys, and simply assume it is a problem that cannot be solved. I can't remember if this was a story I read on here or that my wife told me, but I heard a story about an elderly Chinese couple where the woman, after reaching menopause, wasn't able to get wet at all anymore and simply assumed this meant her sex life was over. Like there was a shelf life and she had expired. So at that point she straight up made their relationship one-sidedly open and allowed her husband to go hire prostitutes whenever he wanted (not necessarily a mistress, mind you), because she wanted him to be satisfied and assumed she was physically no longer capable of doing that. Like, the idea that she could get lube never entered her head, and this was a wealthy woman IIRC. It's very sad, the state of Chinese sex ed. It's getting better, but very very slowly as the younger generations are still sexist and focused on face as hell. Now all that said, you still have some surveys (there was another on Sixth Tone that showed changes in survey results from 2010-2015 WRT sex experiences, but I think they had to take it down) that show decent portions of China ARE engaged in sexy sex (and consider most of these numbers are under due to shame in admitting these things), but notice the distinct splits between men's sexy sex and women's. For many Chinese, sex is basically an obligation that women have to bear with rather than being an act that should be enjoyed by both (this is why many Chinese relationships, especially among the rich, end up being eerily similar to a sugar daddy/baby relationship, and also why abusive relationships are so rampant when men still have the notion that their partners "owe" them sex). I think the chunks of China that do explore sex are very much concentrated in Beijing and Shanghai (and maybe some Hong Kong). Hell, go to Fetlife or Weibo and try to see if where Chinese kink is and it's almost entirely based in those two cities. EDIT: It's important to keep in mind though that the US only back in the '90s was pretty similar to China now in terms of awkwardness around sex. Hell we're still awkward about it, we're only just getting to the point where LGBT+ people are, y'know, people. So all things considered China is liberalizing faster and faster. The big question will be how receptive is the government to these "western ideas" - depiction of LGBT+ characters are banned on Chinese TV/movies and stories about Chinese sexuality are censored all the time. TL;DR it's illegal to advertise condoms but abortion ads are a thing. Chinese sex is still rear end backwards in many ways. As always, blame Chinese men for this. re. sex and Hong Kong, there are sex shops all over the place now, there used to be like, one, in an alleyway in TST, but there are everywhere now. There was one in a building opposite Times Square (big fancy mall in causeway bay) with a big screen tv in it's window showing a guy reviewing a fleshlight. There are also posters advertising some sort tenga wanking device all over the MTR.

Asian sex shops aren't like American ones though, where it's all body positive sex positive feminist sisters holding workshops. Like 80% of the shelf space in a lot of those places are silicone anime butts and vaginas... all of which purport to correspond to the relevant dimensions of certain anime characters. I'm sure there is a lot more knowledge of sexuality among the globalize middle classes, but your average little alleyway sex shop is usually a few sad dildos and a bunch of anime vaginas being sold to lonely nerds.
