I took an A+ course years ago and the man who taught it said that he was helping a guy restore files from a busted PC and noticed a bunch of porn during the transfer. So of course he told the guy's wife. I think he felt that he was doing his Christian duty to inform the spouse but I still consider him to be a narc for doing so. Stay in your lane, dude. Like, if it was a bunch of stuff with highly questionable names I could maybe see it raising some red flags but that's not what I got from his story. Just seemed like "I'm doing a service as a side job. Oh, I see you have the whole Lisa Ann collection. Better get involved with your marriage!"

Of course the dude later retaliated against me by trying to stuff me up with HR on an unrelated issue, so next time it came through he was doing it I told his boss and HR instead. gently caress defending assholes they will just try to screw you anyway.

We had a help desk tech who got caught with poo poo on his computer and I went to bat for him. Prevented him from getting fired and then he quits with no notice a week later. If it has nothing to do with you, then by all means ignore it. But if it's anything that can make you look bad later, they will make you look bad later. Not really on topic, but when I worked at AT&T we had a guy get caught with bestiality porn on his work laptop. He was an incredibly good employee so management tried to save him, but it was just too loathsome of an offense. The problem is, he has a very unique first name. Like I have never heard of anyone with that same name. So 10 years later I'm at a different company with co-workers I followed from AT&T and someone says, "hey, did you hear [insert unique name] got hired?" And the immediate response is, "the bestiality guy?" That poo poo never leaves you. At least start going by your middle name.
