Sorry for the messy hair but I'm like 3/5ths dead so I don't give a poo poo.

I know I've said this before but I do genuinely think you're a loving bad rear end and do more cool poo poo in your lifetime than most people would do in five.

On the "men wearing makeup front" I had an ex girlfriend who use to constantly ask me if I was wearing eye liner. She wouldn't believe me when I said there's no loving way I'm putting a pencil near my eye.

On the dating front I think everyone in this thread is dateable, and I will give you all, including the dudes, an IOU for one date, no funny business as I'm classy, but if I'm unavailable I will ensure a replacement homless person will be washed and provided.

You may be thinking "why the gently caress would i want to date you, you limey sack of poo poo" or maybe even something more polite, like "gross". However, the first thing to being really comfortable with dates, is to realise that, if you play your cards right, the other person may insist on paying for your meal.

No such thing as a free lunch? There may be if you go on a date!

Honestly I have the hardest time dating. My last serious boyfriend was like 6 years ago, then I went out with a dude who strung me around for like a year (he probably had a GF back home), a few hookups, some awesome first dates then ghosting. I have nerdy but cool hobbies, I am a very good girlfriend and friend, I try new things all the time! I have a great, high earning job and love to treat people. I even like videogames.

What's up awesome-first-date-then-ghost buddy!

I think sadly that's just become a thing. I try not to take it personally myself, but it's tough sometimes. And I have no idea why someone wouldn't just say "hey - thanks for the date, but I'm not feeling it. Good luck!" but they don't. I did when that once happened and I was the one not feeling it. But yeah...ghosting seems to be the norm. It sucks and it's rude.

Altho - particularly for women, even a polite turndown is fraught with "is this person gonna go psycho on me?" dangers.

Dating is a long game for patient players. Keep your head up. :)

I have been stupidly sick, still am, hooray. About a month ago I had an ultrasound that revealed a tumour in my uterus that has been giving me hell for several months now, I named it Arnold, he's an rear end in a top hat. In two hours I have an appointment to figure out what we're going to be doing with it. I have my fingers crossed against the option of a hysterectomy. If you goon friends would send me some positive vibes, I would much appreciate it. I am nervous out of my skull.

I'm positive you'll be fine, Doctors usually are very conservative with whatever they are talking about so if they seem even remotely confident it will go fine I'm sure it will.

Either way, I hope you get better soon!

I didn't get many answers and have been referred to a new specialist. The doctor gave me the weakest excuse for pain management, so I am going to ask to see a female resident in the meantime who has a concept of what a tumour in your uterine muscles feels like and that no, aleve for menstrual cramps isn't going to cut it, buddy. I am livid. He hadn't even gotten my ultrasound results and I got to hear them over speakerphone after sitting in the waiting room for two hours bleeding to death. He had zero sympathy for my poor uterus and whatever they are going to do to it from here on out. Also, welcome to Canada where I now get to wait even longer to get even a tiny step closer to figuring this out.

Thank you, all of you for the kind thoughts. I appreciate it immensely.

In my experience I've found it near impossible for doctors to take my problems seriously. I honestly think that they believe women over-exaggerate due to being delicate or some poo poo. I am not wimpy. I have a really high pain tolerance and put myself through hell before I ask for help. My floppy knees leave me in agony when I walk down mountains to the point I limp for hours, but I do it with pride. My husband used a knife to try and dig an urchin needle out of my toe without me doing anything to numb it (I know, it was dumb, did it anyway). If I go to a doctor for pain issues it's because it's persistently an 8 or more. But I've often felt that they're thinking "Oh, sweet girl, you're kind of achy. How sad."

Although there was one time a doctor shamed a dude who went to emergency for a cut on his elbow after falling on to a glass table at a party. I had just fallen off a mountain and was in pretty bad shape, covered in blood and gored up pretty good, but was chatting and watching them dig the dirt out of my wounds and all that. After chatting with the guy on the other side of the curtain, the doctor came back to me and loudly asked "So what was it like being rescued off a mountain by helicopter?" It was amazing and I felt like such a bad rear end. It almost makes up for the other times when my problems were outright dismissed. Almost.

Us ladies are way tougher than they think, Teagan, so keep being the strong toughcute badass you and I both know you are!!!

Edit: I just remember that darn mountain is the one behind me in this photo :laffo:

Actually it's only kind of funny, I came really close to resembling a dropped jar of jam at the bottom of that cliff.

Thank you for that, I really needed it. I feel like I am constantly picking myself up by the bootstraps and dealing, and dealing, and dealing. And I finally reached out and said " I can't do this just by myself anymore" and instead of getting helped... well... I didn't get helped.

It's funny, women have a higher pain tolerance and somehow we still get treated like every pain must be us making it up. I've been in the hospital a few times for various poo poo and only this last time was treated like I had a legitimate complaint. My first medical experience for strep was a male doctor asking me "how many drugs do you do?" My throat was swollen huge and it was obvious I looked lovely because I was sick.

Man some people suck. We know you're tough. Hopefully you get an intelligent, caring doctor very soon. :glomp:

I think the main reason for this medical bias is that everyone knows the most important factor in making a correct diagnosis is having a penis. It's like an antenna through which medical knowledge is recieved when making a diagnosis, and if you don't have one then I'm sorry but the people with penises cannot trust your judgement.

As with many questions in life, the penis is the answer.

In on the med chat, I was rushed to the ER 3 Times in a week with anaphylaxis and the ER staff literally acted like they didn’t believe I was having an allergic reaction despite my vitals all corroborating my symptoms. I was begging them to see an allergist and find out what was causing this and they told me there wasn’t an allergist employed in the entire hospital. It’s a big loving hospital.

Today my sister was brought into the ER, 21 yo female with chest pains and shortness of breath. A healthy 21 yo should not be complaining that her lungs aren’t expanding enough to get air in. The ER staff shrugged and told her to take some ibuprofen.

So med staff don’t think only pain related things are exaggerations. Apparently we females don’t need to breathe as comfortably as we think we do either

I did have a friend of mine with a medical background remove a large cyst on my back with a scalpel. "Cosmetic" stuff isn't covered by my insurance and would have been like $3k.
