Remember this guy?Snowglobe of Doom posted:If you haven't been following the "Mad Mike Hughes" flat earth rocket launch thread in GBS you'll be missing some remarkable schadenfreude. This guy is extraordinarily incompetent at everything he does and constantly fucks up in new and unexpected ways. Let's watch as Mike and his support crew attempt to move his steam powered rocket from the launch RV (that's right, I said "steam powered rocket" and "launch RV") to a trailer, a relatively simple process. He's back! His new launch date is Saturday Feb 3 Snowglobe of Doom posted:One week to go to the launch! Mad Mike obviously realised that his last attempt was pretty halfassed so he's set up a GoFundMe crowdfunding project to raise an extra $10,000 to pay for things like an RV to sleep in while he's at the launch site setting up, renting a crane so he can get the rocket into position without dropping it (again), gas & food, etc etc.. I foresee two possible outcomes: 1) He cancels the launch, blaming 'trolls' for ruining his online cred and chasing donors away from his crowdfunding campaign so he didn't get the necessary funds 2) He goes ahead with the launch anyway and dies

Heh, been getting a kick out of that. It really isn't something new but some news outlet just figured it out. Here's a dude that biked Area 51 I found a few years back. IIRC there used to be more traces and they got removed in the big update last November: https://labs.strava.com/heatmap/#13.00/-115.81375/37.26451/hot/all

Is package theft like this a real epidemic in America? There seem to be a lot of videos showing this kind of poo poo, but that might just be prejudice brought about by watching lots of dickheads on the Internet.

A lot of previously quiet safe middle class american suburbs are really not doing well. People getting addicted to poo poo to cope with their miserable debt-ridden lives then turning to package theft. It's way easier than breaking into cars or houses and the whole US package delivery system is based around just leaving poo poo in plain sight from the street.

When I lived in the Bay Area being right near an amazon locker was super useful because it took hours to do any reasonable shopping and packages would get swiped near instantly . The schaden is the Bay Area is a big loving pain in the rear end to live in. Bip Roberts has a new favorite as of 20:41 on Jan 29, 2018 |

With the increasing prevalence of doorbell cameras and inexpensive/wireless surveillance cameras there's been a lot more videos hitting the web of it occurring. Now I want to go rewatch that video series that one guy put on of all the crazy poo poo from his neighbors he caught on his home surveillance cameras culminating in someone being chased around with a baseball bat IIRC. I always just get everything sent to my work. But anything sent home wouldn't be left by the door, it would go back to the post office and I'd have to schlep down there and collect it.
