I think for 'new' they just mean they haven't had rules yet, not that they're wholly unexpected ideas. So Tunguska is almost certain for Nomads, Invincible Army for Yu Jing, Kazaks for Ariadna. Maybe a Haqq one? Perhaps one more 'wildcard' mercenary sectorial.

It was pretty heavily implied there would be more than 1 wildcard, at least at the Aus seminar. I'd bet only Tunguska and vedic as expected, and maybe white banner. At least one Merc faction.

I doubt Varuna will get up - Bostria said they're still a long way from nailing down the last few units (there'll be an Australian based one, but as of yet undefined), and he stayed away from the Kazaks which makes me think they're not on the cards either.

Really? Interesting stuff, I'm keen to see what they come out with, Druze sectorial was a cool surprise. Can't say I'm really in the market for any new sectorials myself at the moment, but it's great variety for the game.

EDIT: actually, one thing I am interested in is the prospective new book. As well as some new units, we could get interesting new profiles or recosts for existing units that aren't feeling the love. Could be a great refresher to the tournament scene.

3 of the top 15 at cancon were tohaa, including the #1 spot. There were only 5 tohaa players in a field of 70.

Tohaa are doing alright.

Percentage wise I'm pretty sure (we) Tohaa players have more filled out profiles than every other faction.

Aren't Tohaa the biological science masters? So they'd have organic remote things?

They uplift some species (Chaksa) and biograft parasites onto others for control (Kaauri and SymbioBeasts). Not sure on fluff of the Bugs, Bombs and Mates but I imagine it's the latter. The Armours themselves are a parasitic lifeform as well iirc.

Don't be excited about the sectorials though. I was told quite emphatically by this thread that they will not be coming out in 2018 no matter how many times CB says they will and that we should never be excited about these things.

They need it super bad. Both characters in Defiant Truth being 20 points was insane compared to the others. Bipandra needs a total rework and Konstantinos needs something to help his survivability in a faction with so little infiltration.

Kind of reminds me of theme lists in warmachine. The first ones that came out were extremely rough and not very well done, and they refined the process as they went along, but those factions with the garbage theme lists always had the garbage theme lists.

Relating to that, I think that the entire Spec Ops system needs a redo tbh.

Like, combat-related attributes and special skills are way too expensive and turning a Spec Ops into a cheap CoC Specialist is way too cheap, to the point where if you have a spec ops in your list it's probably one of those. They need to cut down the costs of making a Spec Ops good at fighting some and slightly increase the cost of being a specialist/having CoC, IMO.

Chain of Command is already 8/12 XP you can take, how much more expensive can it get?

Well, the spec ops system was originally designed for the campaign system in N2 so using it in individual games will throw off the balance. It deffo needs an update to individualize each factions spec ops but that's a fair amount of work.

I always make mine an extra sniper with BS13 mimetism.

I've never liked the idea, or practice, of using spec ops in normal games or normal tournaments. They are too cheap and provide too much, particularly to sectorials who have a weakness in an area that they can instantly fill. Narrative events and leagues sure.

Yeah, I generally take a mimetism HMG to spearhead a cheap link.

That Wardriver mini & the Dire Foes pack are both relevant to my interests as a burgeoning USAriadna player, but the heels keep bugging me. At least the Intel Grunt's pose isn't that fanservicey.

Did they ever confirm or deny they were doing another Operation box for Ariadna/Combined?

It didn't bring about any new units.

:what: I think I've seen CoC on a SpecOps like twice ever, and that mode used to be quite popular around here.
