Ive been doing a dex build with the bandit's knife as my only weapon and its been kind of painful. Any enemy or boss that is slow and you can get a lot of R1 hits on usually takes a ton of bleed damage and dies very fast, but anything mobile, especially like dogs and Abyss Watchers that do that backstep thing a lot after a combo were extremely annoying to fight

Anyway I think I'm going to give up and use the follower's sabre since I never used any of the DLC weapons for PVE before. I stuffed a bunch of twinkling titanite onto Valorheart but it seems like using any old buckler and a straight sword except you can't parry and you have a shittier version of the guard break weapon art.

I spent some time around Anor Londo invading people, this is the first time I've ever done it because I'm aware of how poo poo I am at the game. There was some full on gang war going on at points and a fight club on the patio behind Pontiff's house. I now see how much fun can be had just loving around in this.

You'll need to use x360ce

x360ce is the only method I know to get ds4 or switch pro controllers to actually work with ds2. If you're playing sotfs get the 64 bit package, otherwise get the 32 bit package. Unzip and place the executable in the same directory as the game's executable, then run it. It'll pop up a warning saying xinput1_3.dll is missing with a button to create the file. Then you can set your input to match an 360 controller, or however you like, and then close the program and you'll be able to run ds2 through steam and it should just work.

For both the ds4 and the switch pro controller you'll also need to go to the left thumb and right thumb tabs and set the deadzone to ~15, sensitivity to 100%, and then invert sensitivity. Otherwise the camera will be sluggish and you won't be able to walk full speed or do kicks/jumping attacks because the game won't recognize full stick movement.

(that's the setting I use for the switch pro controller, but I think I used a similar setting for the ds4, you might want to back off sensitivity a little bit)

That's a bummer, if you're using your ds4 wired it should just work. If you're connected over bluetooth there might be a bluetooth stack problem.

If you're running win7 you need the 360 controller driver installed to use either ds4windows or x360ce.

If you're running win10 I think you need to go back to ds4windows and toggle the Hide DS4 Controller to on?

Or you could try disabling all of your dinput->xinput wrappers, and then launch steam in big picture mode and use the identify option to set up your controller there? I'm not sure if every steam game supports ds4, but I think sotfs is supposed to.

instead of doing alll this poo poo just download input mapper, turn off steam, plug in your ds4, then turn steam back on. input mapper is made by the ds4windows guy but is actively supported and isn't 3 years old like ds4windows. bye

another thing to try is to enable ds4 support in steam. you need to start big picture mode [yikes!] then turn on ps pad and generic pad support in the menu, and uncheck 360 pad support. then you can turn off big picture mode. idk if this works for dark souls 2 tho it does work for most games tho.

apparently since they have started shutting down demons souls servers the game is no longer stable. There's people talking about how it hard crashes every half hour or so, even in offline mode. I don't have my PS3 hooked up to play it myself but it sounds hosed up!

Lol if you think youre experiencing the real dark souls 2 if youre playing it at 30fps with 1 n64 green texture covering the shaded ruins when you could be playing it at 60fps and theres one n64 green texture slapped on the shaded ruins in 1080p.
