I always trip out a little bit when I watch a "later episode" of AD (think season 4 or so) and it's still 4:3

Most of season 1 is not nearly as bad as people say either. A lot of things that make the show great are already there pretty soon after the pilot, it's just Roger who isn't yet.

Even then there are some classic Roger episodes: http://americandad.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Trek

^ episode 8.

I think a bit of that comes from how irregular the seasons aired, there were a couple of episodes produced for season 1 and 2 that ended up getting bumped to season 3 or even when the show was technically in repeats.

Like watching them in production order I was surprised by how few actually had the newspaper gag, I remembered it lasting a lot longer then it actually did.

Edit: just double checked and I was half right, all of Season 3 was actually episodes produced for Season 2.

I feel there was a definite point where Roger changed from extreme innuendo to yes he is loving all this guys. I wonder if it was the network change.

No, not really. There's plenty of examples of home being explicit during the Fox days.

I didn't like Camp Refoogee for a long time for some reason. It's an episode that I saw once, disliked, then watched way way way later in life because I was too lazy to skip it on my VLC playlist & turned out to like it.

What on earth is American Dad's seasonal structure? :psyduck:

Anyway, my first really really favorite episode is either A Smith In The Hand or the one where Stan becomes anorexic. David Herman's performance as the imaginary personal trainer was amazing.

TNT already ran the first two episodes of Final Space last week as a sneak preview. It has promise. I think the pacing was a little screwy in the those first two, but it has an amazing voice cast and seems to be decently scripted.
