I love this show. The manga's great too, but the voice acting, animation, and directing in the anime are all spot-on.

I love this show too. I think it has Sora Yori beat as my favorite. I like that moment where Narrator Snake almost starts sounding annoyed that Chiaki is not paying attention and that the other hole is right. there.

I've been following the manga since it got posted in a thread here, and the anime is SO good. It keeps all of the original manga's good faces and even manages to have similar pacing. But on top of that, the voice actors, music, etc are all extremely good, and the new 'room camp' stuff has been very good too.

At the rate this show is going we'll be lucky if we get the five girls + dog camping trip promised in the OPthis season.

How did the Swedish candle thing work out? It seems cool, but it also seems like it could go wrong very easily. Just like in the show really.

I am not doing one this time! That is just a bundle of firewood set on end. It was loving 80 degrees out here earlier today, which means that any fire I do build will be short-lifed and in the firepit anyways. If I were to assemble a Swedish fire torch, I have a wire coat hangar I use for tying split logs together.

The anime makes me want to go camping really bad, but I'm worried I wouldn't be able to afford the supplies. Anyone have recommendations for good camping videos so I can live vicariously until I have more money?

I consulted a dog and in his opinion you should never take a dog camping. Tents are really scary. You get panicky inside them. Campfires are also scary but you can't avoid them because there's usually food nearby. The stairs going up to bird watching towers are, like, totally different from other stairs. On the plus side, you can often find many muddy ditches to dive in for no discernable reason.

Related, Crunchyroll has just started putting up a program called Anisong Station, mostly presentations of and interviews with artists, and occasionally live-ish performances. The 180115 episode has a small interview with Asaka, the artist of Shiny Days, and next episode is going to have a making-of the music video going with the song.

After-action report: I had forgotten what the sounds were like. All night, there was this gentle wash of the wind blowing through the trees, like rain, or a gentle surf. I got a recording, but it's marred by little pops of bits of trees falling off and landing on my tent. I also wish I'd gotten a better photo of how they all lean in one direction, from the wind, but my little exploratory walk turned into a much longer and harder hike than I anticipated it to be, and I kind of just forgot about taking photos at that point. Still too much light pollution to see much of any kind of stars, though. Don't be a doof like I was, kids, bring water. Also, wind blows over canyons, so it *really* got warm down by the lake. That little zig-zag trail I took back because I saw that it was getting close to check-out? friggin 45 degrees with minimal switchbacks, that then levelled off into closer to 15. So after thoroughly enjoying what's available of this totally comfortable show I realized I missed watching comfy slice of life shows since I haven't seen any in years. I watched the first season of "Encouragement of Climb" on Crunchyroll last night and must see if I can find the second somewhere since it was enjoyable, but I'm just wondering there's other outdoorsy/camping shows or good slice of life stuff from the last few years worth of anime that would be worth a watch. I started Non Non Biyori last night too. In other words... https://comfy.moe/qilhgs.webm Finding out what the other hiking anime alluded to in the thread title would probably be a good start.

It's a joke based on a line from the manga, not another actual anime. While not outdoorsy, check out Sweetness and Lightning for super comfy and feels, and this season's Hakumei to Mikochi for maximum comfy. (Flying Witch is also super comfy)

That aside, I've started "Flying Witch", and searching for it on Crunchyroll also made me start "Yamada & the 7 Witches" along with "Witch Craft Works", both of which I remember hearing good things about and am enjoying so far. Especially "Yamada & the 7 Witches", which I'm already half way through. I've ear-marked the other shows too, and started a Hi-DIVE account for "Hakumei & Mikochi", which will also let me legally watch several other good shows I've heard about but not got around to like "Land of the Lustrous", "Girl's Last Tour" and "Made in Abyss". Sadly, they don't have a Playstation app and their android one doesn't appear to support Chromecast so that might have to wait; since watching on a tiny cellphone screen doesn't sound all that appealing. That said, I made some more webms. The Yamada and the 7 Witches manga is available on Crunchyroll Manga too, in case you want to read the remaining story once you're done with the anime. It's been a while since I saw/read it but the anime covers maybe 30% of the chapters and also changes some stuff. I found it so-so personally.
