Most of you guys are way overselling my discomfort with Ann's treatment. The reason I'm harping on it so much is, in order: 1. that it's indicative of a pattern of behavior by Katsura Hashino of weird cheesecake scenes involving teenagers, from Persona 3 to now, and incredibly easy to make fun of because of that, and 2. I find it kinda creepy. I get why it's in the game, but it's wholly unnecessary, and Ann's usual discomfort with being sexualized (which thankfully, is not present here) just rubs me wrong a bit.

Remember when the game had to come up with a weird excuse for everyone to be wearing school uniforms during summer vacation, just for that desert anime cutscene? Which incidentally was also one of the other major times where the camera (and Ryuji) were creeping on the girls. All the more reason to destroy anime.

I'm pretty sure Ann is fine with Ryuji being obviously attracted to her right now because half of the point of swimsuits is to show off. She gets pissed when she's in casual wear because she's not trying to be sexy then, she's just trying to go about her normal business (and so it's annoying).

This is played as being cool and good and a perfectly normal thing to do. Then the boys are cornered by two men that they aren't interested in who try to push them into sexual encounters. This is played as being horrifying. It's almost as though there is some connection between the above two things that the boys should learn
