I've seen the first half, second half starts a bit weaker, which is why I dropped it twice there, but it was a long time ago and I didn't have time for much anime then. I should just rewatch the whole thing tbh.

I do hear that Splash Star is only so maligned just because it's the first one that wasn't starring the original cast so it gets marked down more than it deserves. We'll have to see how that goes whenever the precure stream gets to it. I do know Happiness Charge did badly enough that they bumped the series producer into the Super Sentai division so someone else handled the second half of GoPri

If I remember correctly this come from the fact that most schools in japan don't really acknowledge that their country was basically on the entirety wrong side of history from the late 1920s to 1945.
