I remember reading somewhere that if you know a little bit about the Civil War, you think it was about slavery. If you know a little more, you think it was about state's rights. Then if you know a little bit more, you come to realise it was about state's rights - specifically their rights to own human beings as property, and that it was just them throwing a loving shitfit along the lines of "well how the gently caress are we supposed to live like kings except on the back of untold human misery?!?" Yes the civil war reason transcends from "slavery" to "wide array of social and economical reasons" back to "Oh right slavery" Does anyone remember that Simpson episode with Apu does his citizen test and that's pretty much his answer but the less educated person doing the test says that "Just slavery" is fine. Implying that slavery as far as the creators are concerned is an oversimplification.
