Wormskull posted:I really do recommend reading the billy Mitchell and Todd Rodgers threads on TG forums to see the insane fans say stuff like Yes, sure, you can do that in the TAS, but your leaving out the Human Element. Or whatever. in the barnstorming thread the first reply says you should believe it because it was todd rodgers then a few pages later someone uses a hacked rom and proves his time is impossible

Billy Mitchell is the one who wrote the gamefaq that tells you how if you fly the airship backwards around the world four times, the Final Fantasy characters take their clothes off.

I think it’s cool that that guy spent almost four decades of his life compulsively fabricating hundreds upon hundreds of world records for vintage games that are exponentially higher than any runner ups- just really blatantly impossible bullshit- without anyone noticing/caring

Yeah, I scored 400,000,000 points in Jackal the other day, which was a nice warmup before I attempted a 36,000,000 clear in the 2600 version of Centipede. My friend gave me a copy of Rush 2049 recently as well, may try to get the world record for doing every racebackwards while blindfolded. We'll see though. Everybody, for 25 years: *clears throat*

Several years back during the early days of my tenure with TG, Walter Day asked me about a single score that Todd had in the database...a 1.2 million on "Cosmic Ark". It seems that the next-highest score at the time was just 20K. A flurry of Todd's scores had been entered into the database when he first came onboard, but this one, for whatever reason, caught Walter's attention. lmfao

Lmfao the guy was like, a site admin or something. So he just went into random games with no score attempts and just wrote 1,100,000 with no verification because no one on the planet would ever look.

"As chief referee, and as I was not the referee who authenticated the score, and as the one that did was gone, I saw this as a major problem. We already knew the story about the tapes (or rather, lack thereof) returned by the Glendale police to Brien King, so there was nowhere else to turn." drat this sounds pretty sick, whatever this Lore is.

Bottom line, Jace, is that this is likely one of the most implausible outcomes of all of Todd's score claims. I asked Todd to provide video proof of JUST the final 60 seconds. It never was given. Note that this score has since been removed from the TG database. Sadly, my own personal best, which was in the mid 20K range in comparison, is gone from the TG database else I would be champion at this challenge. the claimed score was 960,001 lmfao

My favorite score he got, RTM explained could only be gotten by playing nearly perfectly for 5 hours and then playing really bad on purpose for while.

Ive been browsing the Accepted Score Disputes archive and its fairly awesome. There's guys posting stuff about scores verified in 1998 and pointing out that the score counter always ends in a zero, so it would be impossible for this score to exist because the last digit is an 8. Lol
