AnaKris has finally finished Memory Of Sorrow, the sequel to Cross Heart that she published almost a decade ago. The sequel is in full color, and will tear your heart out in the best way possible and proably leave you crying happy tears.

I definitely read some of this as a thirsty teen after finding Nana to Kaoru but I definitely didn't recommend it, I think. Oh I forgot to say to read the prequel to Itoshi first so if you haven't do that. Speaking of old leather porn while trying to find Tori Maia I also stumbled on this http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/partners/ (NWS) about three gay couples in a hardcore s&m swingers group in New York in the 80s or 90s. Really interesting for its age (93!) and attempted verisimilitude. And the author included a reading list that might interest people itt

Yup, I did read the prequel first! And I've also read Nana to Kaoru, which is both extremely heartwarming and also occasionally rather... dubious in how it handles consent.

I dunno if it's already been talked about, but Usotsuki Rhetoric is extremely cute and fun. A girl who can hear when people are lying meets a boy detective who is a care free lazy spirit and the two go on adventures and solve crimes while trying to get free food! Not much in the romance parts yet, but I like it a lot!

Everything Burrito posted:it's really good at jerking the reader around On the topic of BL, I thought Knife by Chiba Ryoko was a pretty good suspense/mystery story. One of the characters has actual named-and-treated PTSD rather than the usual vague "manga mental health issues" (not that I can vouch for realism), although his coping mechanism is, uh, very BL. Also, I've been re-reading Fujiyama Hyouta's older stuff and Dear Green and the sequel are still real good.

I just finished reading Knife last week and enjoyed it quite a bit. e: speaking of Fujiyama Hyouta: Really wish more of her books were licenced and I'm super annoyed that Junjou/Pure Heart only got one volume in English. A lot of the scans are also gated by a private scan group who only distributes via IRC (or LJ or somewhere else loving archaic) that I haven't figured out how to get into so you're just reliant on some rear end in a top hat with access leaking their scans to read it. Cuntellectual posted:I don't believe that gender sets things in stone, but I do think that men and women have tendencies towards different things. A given woman might be stronger than a given man, or said woman might even be stronger than every man who has ever lived, but the average woman isn't as strong as the average man, for example. Since this is the sort of thing that might seem reasonable at a glance, I want to briefly explain why it doesn't make sense to make the jump from "women are on average less physically strong than men" to something like "women on average have an intrinsic tendency to have some behavioral/psychological trait." While it's not inherently impossible for the difference between the body/brain of an AFAB (assigned female at birth) person to manifest in some behavioral/intelligence difference, it doesn't make any sense to assume that any given behavioral difference has a biological/genetic source unless you can directly explain the link (in the sense of "this specific biological difference would cause this specific behavioral difference for Directly Provable Reasons"). Absent any direct explanation for a behavioral tendency (or anything else related to the brain, like intelligence), it makes sense to assume the difference is caused by societal factors. A societal/cultural explanation should basically be the default, since it'll end up being true in the vast majority of cases.

I started reading Kimi to Wonderland the other day and it seems ok, I liked the twist about the boy. Sucks that they're recommending something that is neither substantially translated or licensed that I can see though; there's only 1 chapter online. Also have been enjoying The Worst Witch in the World and Kiss Me at the Stroke of Midnight (which I didn't realize was licensed), and Sacrificial Princess & the King of Beasts is really good. I'm in Love and It's the End of the World is by the same author as House of the Sun and is very cute

omfg speaking of secret scan clubs the one I finally got into just deleted their entire online presence the entire thing has been like -jump through a bunch of hoops to get access -they get pissed because someone leaked their poo poo and take it all down/ban everyone -request access again -get back in but everything is password protected and they aren't giving out passwords -one chapter gets posted with a huge watermark on every page -after a break they put a few things back up and it all seems ok for a while -check for updates and the entire site is gone I got to read a few things but loving hell the drama is not worth it

Thanks for reminding me to check for a new chapter, I've been waiting to see the resolution of the current story. It's pretty neat how the concept of being a human lie detector seems like it's a guaranteed win for a detective, but just because you know someone's lying, it doesn't mean you know why they're doing it, or what the truth really is. Makes for some fun mysteries.

The boy and girl in this chapter are not Takagi and Nishikata, but rather a flash-forward version of Chi (Takagi and Nishikata's daughter from the spin-off series Karakai Jouzu no (Moto) Takagi-san) and her classmate. We know the girl is Chi because on page 16, he calls her "Nishikata" (i.e. her family name, since she's the daughter of Nishikata) and also says in the last panel that her first name starts with "Chi". Also, her expressions (especially her surprised look in the second panel of page 4) are pretty much identical to her expression in the spin-off series whenever Takagi pulls one over on her. I should probs get around to checking out the spin off (one of several it seems).
