Yeah, I remember that. My boss is an anti-vaxxer, and she has three kids that are all under 5 years old. France, recently passed a new law that makes 12 (iirc, and I have no sources to support that claim other than my memory so please correct me if I'm wrong) new vaccines mandatory for young children, and she came out and said that there's mercury in the vaccines and "God knows what else." Her youngest is 9 months old or something like that, and she still hasn't gotten him vaccinated and won't until it stops him from getting into school. And even then, she will only do the compulsory ones.

In conclusion: gently caress anti vaxxers to hell and back.

NYT Op-ed page, high off hiring Megan "Looks sometimes a shitload of poor people have to die in a towering inferno due to shoddy outer cladding so we can have our modern conveniences" McArdle, hires Quinn Norton yesterday:

Honestly do you want a person writing about tech and culture who doesn't know to delete her bad racist tweets after being hired to a highly public position?

Also, the internet is real mad at the family farm that put a "Resist White Supremacy" sign on it's property

quote:

“We’re not seeking to alienate folks who have different perspectives on tax reform or infrastructure spending,” Aaron said in her recent Facebook post. “But when it comes to speaking out against systems of oppression and injustice, we see it as our moral responsibility to use our position of privilege and power, along with the tools of our trade and the platforms available to us, to engage visibly and actively in the fight for justice. Our roadside sign messages are one small way we do this.”

Her post went viral, spreading rapidly online among both right- and left-leaning groups, who then descended on the farm’s Facebook page to give either one- or five-star reviews that had nothing to do with kettle corn or apple-cider doughnuts.

For Aaron, though, the blowback presented an opportunity. To change people’s minds, even by just a degree or two, required communication that was respectful but honest. And here was a chance to talk to people who disagreed with her — lots of them.

“Resist white supremacy is not an inclusive message,” complained Patty Weston Meizlish. “When you single out a group of people you exclude them. This is a sad message.”

“Yes, generally speaking, we are comfortable excluding white supremacists,” responded Aaron, who studied psychology at Smith College in Massachusetts. “If you know some who would be interested in dialoguing with us, please have them contact us!”

Shannon Lee Sibley contended that she also supported fighting hate groups but wouldn’t spend her money at the farm because it would never post a “Blue Lives matter” sign in support of police.

“You’re right, Shannon — we do not support ‘Blue Lives Matter.’ . . . police lives are already and by default valued in our society,” she wrote. “Black lives are not, so we believe that a declaration that Black Lives Matter is necessary and important.”

“So black supremacy is okay then?” asked Lisa Lewis. “This is not a message of love, this is a message out to divide people even more. I would never ever visit your farm because you try to force your views on your customers. That is WRONG no matter what you say.”

“Lisa, when we talk about white supremacy, we’re referring to a systemic racism that is much deeper and more pervasive than any individual or group could be,” Aaron replied. “Black people do not have the institutional power in our society to benefit from so-called ‘black supremacy.’ It just doesn’t work like that.”

Hold that pose.
I've gotta get something.
I always love that weird switchback in these things. If black lives matter, then blue lives don't? If black lives matter, than black supremacy is okay? If white supremacy isn't okay, then black supremacy is okay? Just keep trying to shift the topic so you don't have to actually talk about a real issue, just run people around in circles until nobody's actually talked about anything.

Good on the guy for not taking bait for an argument and answering like a regular person should.

So a farm in Northern Virginia has a sign out front that they like to put random messages on that from time to time piss off regressive shitlords.

They recently put up a sign in that simply said "Resist White Supremacy".

Queue idiots going on to their facebook page to whine about it. The Washington Post then proceeded to write a story about it, and published the full names of some of the people who felt offended by a message against white supremacy, since they had already publicly outed themselves on a public facebook page.
