One thing is I wish that the live shows would do away with the modular format. I much prefer Condos to Ghost Stories and All Hail. Nothing really moves the show along other than Cecil since they're all written to not be there. And chatting with someone at PodCon from Utah, there was 0 overlap with the guests other than Cecil and either Joseph or Jeffrey. Literally we saw two totally different shows that tried for the same payoff.

We didn't perform any Night Vale episode at PodCon it was just a Q&A  do you mean the Neptune?

the reason the live shows have a modular format is because different actors are available to tour at different times and different places. we have a core group who are pretty much always on tour (Cecil, Symphony, Meg, and myself) and other actors join tours as their and our schedule allows. Condos wasn't toured nearly as extensively as the other shows have been.

condos and the debate are easily the two best live shows and id argue that while condos is strictly better for character development the debate has the wonderful steve carlsberg payoff which makes it the best, come at me haters

Yes, Neptune ;and I realize the reason for it, I just wish it wasn’t so. It just doesn’t feel as earned but that’s my issue.

I literally shouted "Hey Kevin! Where have you been?" when the latest episode started.

Then I got to the end and realized why I'm glad he's not around much anymore. That was a quiet ride home once it finished.

I'm a little late on this but the All Hail show is incredibly good and way funnier than I remember The Investigators being (even though that show owned in its own right). I had a very fun time at the show and am glad to have seen it.

So I guess they made it out of The Institute together after all! I think I'm going to have to listen to WtW from the beginning before I start season three. Will we ever get the full picture of the Reckoning and the Society?

It's been laid out in a bit of detail already. I just finished relistening to the series.

The Reckoning was an all-out nuclear war that occurred sometime in the 1920s. All but about 200 million people died, and a lot of old art was destroyed (such as Starry Nighy). The Society was founded to find a way to keep this from happening again. They found that nationalism and family were the root cause of violence.

I got that, it's basically a parallel universe where WWI resulted in a nuclear exchange and The Society evolved as a result. But I'm wondering if we'll learn more about what led up to the event and the formation of The Society, and how it differs from our history in more detail.

I should add that I'm fine if we never learn the answers to these questions. I still love this series.

I did kind of freak out slightly when I heard Roberta playing a cop again in It Makes A Sound. But also that was an amazing finale. I must admit I did always thing Wim Faros was an odd name. I suppose the signs were there all along, though - I don't think anyone else ever referred to him by name unless prompted to by Deidre. It'd also explain why he apparently was so difficult to find.

I wonder if we'll learn more about Tim Ferris in season 2...

We take every Jan and July off. As always, this hiatus was announced in the intro to the last episode.

Huge revelation in the latest episode:

Apparently straight people exist in Night Vale.

(Okay, yes, there's Steve and Abby. Not saying it's a bad thing, just kind of interesting how different it is from most popular shows.)

I stopped listening to it a while ago but I can easily imagine an episode being an entire 30-minute long, very smug hot take on it being so weird to have a straight couple in the town.

It’s... really not. No one even mentions sexuality. Hell, for all I know they’re both bisexual.

If anything, the "unusual" thing about the couple in this episode is that they're both apparently at least middle-aged.

But it's really just a sweet and sinister story about starting a relationship in a magic realist surveillance state.

Yeah, the only reason I can think of people thinking all of NV is gay is Carlos-Cecil. There's been plenty of hetero couples mentioned in the town as well.

There’s also Michelle and Maureen. I haven’t done a census or anything, but I feel like most of the relationships we hear about are same-sex. It would be interesting to see the data, though. Could be it’s like how men feel women are dominating the conversation if they talk 30% of the time.

So there is a new podcast on the network by a guy called Chuck Tingle. I googled him and left far more confused than when I started. Can someone give us a rundown on him? The best I can tell is a combination of romance novels, the new yorker, mcsweeney's, and hardcore gay porn.

I have no interest in ever reading any of this. However, he's still awesome because when a bunch of MRA's worked to get him nominated for a Hugo as some sort of anti-feminist prank, he said that if he won he'd have Zoe Quinn accept the award on his behalf.
