Apples McGrind posted:google Adam Curtis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afBmN7icFRw Hypernormalization is extremely good. Curtis is pretty depressing though. This is also a link to the version that doesn't randomly have a 4 minute section about modern British Military Adventurism cut out, which for a while was missing from the most common youtube upload.

"hypernormalization" has become such a cliche answer and such a trite observation on society i've heard good things about Weiner but i've never seen it

get that OUT of my face posted:"hypernormalization" has become such a cliche answer and such a trite observation on society Weiner was good but less a political documentary and more a weird view into very broken people which just so happens to have been recorded during a political campaign. Hypernormalization only seems trite if you watch it imagining it was released today. The movie was finished back when we still thought Trump was a joke who would win the primaries only to get crushed by Abuela in the GE. A truth most of still believed when it aired. I mean yeah for a lot of c-spammers it's just preaching to the choir but I think it's still a great watch.

Red Army about the Soviet hockey team is real good. Focus is more on the team than politics per se but there’s enough political undercurrent that it’s c-spam worthy.

Can we post lectures? Because I'm posting this lecture which is good fuel for Thanksgiving arguments with your relatives who think the U.S. could've won the war in Vietnam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOjLrUsE6IU Straight from the the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center.

quote:For historical purposes. $100'000'000 was spent on the Jeb Bush presidential campaign. This documentary was created to help voters get to know Jeb. This will be an interesting case study for marketing students pertaining to brands and brand failure.

As a canadian i really liked this documentary about the October Crisis. Vive le quebec libre etc. Seriously though I thought it was well made and does a good job summarizing the background to why Quebecois were/still are so fuckin angry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxhbzCRLVVo Not really about politicians but the labour movement is politically relevant: The classic early 70s documentary Harlan County, USA about striking coal miners in Kentucky and their war with the coal company. Whole thing is on Youtube apparently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5TYSXN0aXs

dunno if it counts as a documentary cuz there's 10 episodes of it but i liked Cuba Libre for providing about as much historical context as possible for the cuban revolution and subsequent history, I think mostly because they rely on european and cuban historians to avoid the standard insane american perspective

Labour: The Summer that changed everything https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWnIpHAHaaE When this was pitched it was widely expected Corbyn was leading Labour to their worst defeat in living memory and the film crew decided to follow high profile anti-Corbyn labour MPs as they campaigned for re-election. It leads to some truely magical moments of PLPs getting corncobbed.
