I once read a giant robot manga by a porn guy and boy did it show. Like there were interesting ideas in the story but it seemed like he got bored and had to put some gross perv poo poo in there every couple pages.

That just reminds me of Hellsing, although the writer for that apparently got most of the porn out of his system as the only porny thing he did was draw the female lead's boobs bigger every couple of chapters.
