Yes, we're damned to live in separation from God, so we might as well live in lawlessness and fear because God has never since asked humankind to try harder.

The pathology at the root of it has always been the greatest driver of malevolence throughout the history of our species. America's latest iteration is just leading the pack in a comically devilish manner.

It was a shame how he carried on
I remember learning about (in a religion course no less) how slave owners in the South really wanted their slaves to be religious and even encouraged it. The professor asked why that would be, and I was floored by how easy of an answer it was: because it kept them content. How else do you convince slaves, whose lives are absolute poo poo, to even care enough to keep breathing? You get them to think that no matter what kind of bad poo poo happens to them, at least they have eternal happiness waiting for them at the end of it. Suddenly, they feel okay with being a slave their whole life, because there's a reward at the end for praying before your daily gruel. This is something the slave owners knew and intentionally used as a tool.

So yes, I would agree that Christianity in America has a history of being poo poo.

It's nice that they held it in Mexico so Roger Ver could attend, given that he's not allowed in the US since he voluntarily gave up his citizenship and became a citizen of St Kitts and Nevis.

"This may have been a mistake."

You know, I never paid too much attention in church, but I recall that God set up some sort of sacrifice who would do something along the lines of dying for all the sins of mankind. I also recall it being the basis of some sort of major religion.

I'm probably not remembering things properly though.

So you're blaming gun deaths on Original Sin? That's why you're not, oh I don't know, even bothering offering prayers for the souls of the countless victims of all atrocities of mankind? There's a special kind of self-destruction when he doesn't even use THE BARE MINIMUM KINDNESS OF HIS OWN FAITH THAT TAKES NO GODDAMN REAL EFFORT ON HIS OWN BECAUSE YOU CAN JUST TYPE THE WORD AND THUS YOU'VE TECHNICALLY "PRAYED", but he doesn't even bother to show sympathy for any sort of victim of anything. I'm sure Jesus loves Apathy most of all.

Okay so their argument is that gun regulations are pointless because criminals will always break the law. So why have any drug laws? Drug users are always going to break the law! Why have abortion laws? People who want abortions will always just break the law!

They believe in the myth that armed gun owners would stop all the shootings if there weren't all these gun laws which criminals ignore but upstanding patriots tragically obey.

This myth doesn't apply to those other cases, you don't need a gun to save your life from a drug overdose or an abortionist, although I'm sure the gun manufacturers' lobby is working on a way to mandate guns be sold to fetuses so they can protect themselves from their murderous slutty abortion-loving moms.
