Not sure if it's been linked to, but the kickstarted System Shock remake is on hiatus, after earning (and rumored to have burned through) a million dollars. Extra schadenfreude because, if I'm reading the article right, the group is having trouble finding publishers willing to take on a remake of a 1994 shooter game that audiences really didn't take to until it was called Bioshock.

Then you get to the bit where they spent all of the Kickstarter funds on reinventing the game instead of doing a simple remake like everyone wanted, and it becomes a hilarious gently caress-up, and a perfect example of why no management is not necessarily better than bad management. Then it becomes sad again because I really wanted to play it and it's in all likelihood dead now, and the only reason it's not official is because they don't have to refund anyone if it's on an eternal hiatus

I was wondering why they'd seemed so few and far between for the last ten years. it's me, y'all can get schadenfreude from me.
