It was in 2014, and Stewart left The Daily Show in '15.

So Democrats in Pennsylvania proposed a new map to fix the gerrymander and probably make their own gerrymander. Republicans proposed a new map to kinda sorta fix it. Republicans are in charge of the legislature, so they offered up their map for approval. The Democratic governor tossed everything, leaving it up to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The Court basically held that the Democrats didn't dream big enough. https://twitter.com/PoliticsWolf/status/965677129538068480 It's such a bad map for Republicans that they'll likely sue, but uh, who the hell would they sue to?

From CSPAM, a nice way to see the difference easily

Isn't this just going to inflame the calls for them to impeach the justices?

IIRC, the State Supreme Court hired a non-partisan redistricting expert. So this is basically just showing how badly Gerrymandered the districts were.

The US Supreme Court, where they'll be faced with the question, "Wasn't it you guys who told us in PA's redistricting before this one that we're not allowed to rule on this because it's not a federally judiciable question?"

I find the newly drawn districts soothe a part of my brain. And not a political part. But the part that craves simplicity in design.

7 years from now or whatever when we're finally rid of this guy and have a saner administration (even if we elect like...Blake Shelton or something) I wonder how long it will take to undo all the damage that's been done. I'm also curious how the new normal is going to play out in elections when all the candidates realize they can just make up whatever they want and don't even have to pretend to have a veneer of credibility anymore because they can just blame the media.

At least a generation, you can't get back all that expertise - all the people who've been fired / let go? Retired or gone to the private sector and they're not coming back. You've got a small chance of shortcutting it if he only lasts 4 years.

what worries me about trump is that he's so loving toxic I can't imagine any left leaning people wanting to go into federal service right now. Beyond the brain drain at state, I'm worried that the only new recruits are gonna be meme spewing red hats. ICE is most definately hosed as anyone wanting to join right now is a goose stepping black shirt wannabe

On the flip side I bet the new FBI recruits are 100% nonpolitical or democrats since the whole agency is now considered a liberal conspiracy on the right (lol forever at that idea)
