Not sure if Ysengrin's gone mad with power or always been mad at Coyote's bullshit.

Mythologically speaking Coyote has always been his own worst enemy, especially when he convinces himself he's the hot poo poo. Entirely possible that he straight up didn't realize that Ysengrin has always admired him for his strength and power and that he was never personally loyal to him. Coyote loving up in this way is not unheard of, and we shouldn't forget that Coyote also routinely fucks up at the whole "being a god" thing. For example in some mythologies Coyote was hanging out with the Creator God but couldn't stop laughing, so everything he tried to make was garbo. Within Gunnerkrigg's mythology, Coyote famously hosed up at making people, hence the shadow people. So it's well established that Coyote, while powerful, isn't exactly competent. He just happened to cruise into a place where his power was sufficient to make him seem more competent than he is. He tricked himself.

Coyote had always been a neat character to me because I grew up with this children's book with stories about coyote from my grandma inn new Mexico. So yes self owning is very much a coyote thing.

Thought: Ysengrin with power becomes capricious and willful, i.e., Coyote. Coyote without power becomes stubborn, jealous and proud, i.e., Ysengrin. They've done this thousands of times.

I'm not quite sure how the action on this page follows from the last page, but then again Coyote is a shapeshifter, so maybe he shifted his neck out of the way.

It was at that moment that Annie understood why every adult had been telling her that the Forest was actually kind of messed up. Also what's the over/under on Smitt's powers being the reason Coyote's plan went from "Step A" to "I did not foresee this!" immediately?

For a scene that's supposed to be a huge dramatic twist, it feels kind of hampered by the fact that Coyote is a trickster. It doesn't have the same impact because the reader probably figures that all is not as it appears. The dramatic scene with Jeanne was also spoiled for different reasons. This comic doesn't really seem to frame drama well.
