in addition to being followers they are also cowards. aggressive cowards:

"When I say authoritarian followers are aggressive I don’t mean they stride into bars and start fights. First of all, high RWAs go to church enormously more often than they go to bars. Secondly, they usually avoid anything approaching a fair fight. Instead they aggress when they believe right and might are on their side. “Right” for them means, more than anything else, that their hostility is (in their minds) endorsed by established authority, or supports such authority. “Might” means they have a huge physical advantage over their target, in weaponry say, or in numbers, as in a lynch mob. It’s striking how often authoritarian aggression happens in dark and cowardly ways, in the dark, by cowards who later will do everything they possibly can to avoid responsibility for what they did. Women, children, and others unable to defend themselves are typical victims. Even more striking, the attackers typically feel morally superior to the people they are assaulting in an unfair fight."

where do I read more about this

start with van de mieroop's A History of the Ancient Near East, ca. 3000-323 BC and follow his footnotes and endnotes to more specialized reading.

kramer's The Sumerians is also good but will have less up to date archaeology, since it was originally published in the 60s or 70s, but i know from experience you'll have a much easier time finding a :filez: copy of it than de mieroop.

Von Neumann held a lifelong passion for ancient history, being renowned for his prodigious historical knowledge. A professor of Byzantine history at Princeton once said that von Neumann had greater expertise in Byzantine history than he did.[53]

the right wing is based in cowardice, and as corny as it is to say it, a lot of that has to do with embracing hate over compassion. it takes bravery to respect and love people and the environment; it's really easy to just be an enormous poo poo who wants to gently caress over everything.

Last year 66 cops where killed in shootings. So far this year 21 students have been killed in school shootings... but my main point is it's insane that kids wake up and actually worry about this on a daily basis. It kills me that my daughter might have those fears one day. That she might have to make a decision one day to use herself as a human shield to protect her friends or get killed because she holds a door open for others. I chose to do what I do. I can pretty much retire at any time now if I wanted. She won't have that choice.
