I really don't remember much about the Flask of Wayward Souls that you pick up in the Dungeons. If there's a Lore page for it, I don't have it and Google isn't being much help in terms of just finding the info. Aside from being an objective, what is it and what does it do?

Yeah I'm not, just loosely commenting that I'd rather not see them muck with the gameplay in service of adding more "progression" for these weirdos

like adding on some sort of power level system straight out of destiny, for example

I’d be interested to hear more of your general thoughts on V2, as my admittedly brief experience with the last beta was quite positive. I gather you have concerns about the Power system, but I recall earlier you said your impressions were pessimistic beyond that.

Sure whenever there's not an NDA on the current beta, which should be whenever the open preorder beta is. I'm not trying to be coy, I would now but I did agree at minimum not to share a whole bunch of specific negative poo poo about the test--and regardless of my thoughts on the gameplay, fatshark is a non-scummy company that has not adopted any of the predatory practices the rest of the game industry has been buying into recently, so I hope the game is successful even if I'm probably not going to put in a quarter of as much time as I did in the first game. So I really shouldn't be posting criticisms of it now, it's just hard not to be vocal about the test when vermintide 1 is such a legendary game to me

Can you at least say whether your issues are around the progression rather than the gameplay? Because the latter just seems improved in every way.

Owl Inspector
Sep 14, 2011

It's mostly the gameplay but also the way I see the progression and RPG/class junk impacting it (or perhaps the way it was redesigned in consideration with that), and the overall personality of the game

The RPG stuff definitely muddies the water a little. The first game felt very well balanced, any team combination was fine and just about every weapon was viable. The RPG parts aren't bad per se but it's going to be a huge effort to keep the game balanced and it does feel like a less simple game now.

Every team comp is still ~mostly fine~ its just the game punishes the goddamned poo poo out of you for playing like a pubbie elf, and Dev Blow is no longer a trait (at least not on the blues and oranges i've seen so far) allowing strikers to also be controllers too.

Even on base characters who'd only opened a few chests I could count party wipes on Hard on one hand with fingers left over and most of those completions included at least 1 grim, whereas I'm pretty sure even my Bigly Leveled BW didn't have over 50% completion rate for Normal just because everyone new IMMEDIATELY split up and started striking when they remembered they had melee at all, and as BW... heat and stamina are finite resources, and rats in the beta build really really really really REALLY REALLY are not :sweatdrop:

Dev Blow is now a talent for the iron breaker, not sure who else.

It's so fuckin' weird to see people obsessing over how having a flamethrower is the thing that makes an ironbreaker an ironbreaker when it's a totally new thing they put in during the event that destroyed warhammer fantasy

Anyone have Death on the Reik and can host Cataclysm on the second map, the one with the boats? Need that to get the banner, because I don't own it, and it is the .01% left I have of to complete V1 in its entirety.

Finished it.

The final Dwarf army book was months before the End Times. :colbert: But, yeah, Ironbreakers and Irondrakes were two separate units, but they shared the same kit and more-or-less the same armor so whatever. Bardin had the pistol variants in the last game and it's not like rangers were supposed to have those.

I was just starting a Dwarf army when End Times first hit. :negative: They sat unbuilt until I finally got around to selling them off.

I can host in roughly ~21-22 hours. I've never finished a Cata map, but I'm decent at Dwarf shield bashing.

Whatever it's all too suspiciously new.
It's just weird man. The Ironbreakers have been hilariously tough melee units for like 20 years and then suddenly the most important thing about them is they have flamethrowers. Even though that's a different unit.

Well good luck, I haven't tried it on cataclysm yet but the boat part is one of the hardest events in the game

If I try it on cataclysm I think the strat will be to go to the top of the stairs each time a wave comes in and have a sword and shield or axe and shield CC the whole thing, then just do chains/barrels between waves. Hammers or swords won't work because of the insane number of stormvermin.

I love the drakegun, it's just fun to use and the drakefire pistols alt fire aoe feels smaller/more shotgun like in vt2. They are basically the same type of unit, and if the Wood elf can be a Dark Elf Shade, who gives a gently caress.

wiki page posted:

The creation of the Drakegun came about when the bitter underground wars that the Dwarfs fought daily have begun to evolve into a new level of intensity, as their enemies began to discover diabolical ways to break a strongholds already formidable defenses. However, the Dwarfs stout defiance and powerful rune-weapons and armor have turned back the dark tide time and again. Beaten yet unbroken, their enemies have adapted, and in response to the heavily-armored Ironbreakers, the Skavens have deployed teams of Warp-fire Throwers or Globadiers as a countermeasure, whilst the Night Goblins send in mobs of Fanatics or Trolls to punch a hole in the their lines. For the Dwarfs, this war of attrition is costing far too many lives to continue.

In response, the Dwarf Engineers of Zhufbar invented new weapons that can deter these countermeasures with blazing efficiency. The Drakegun was one such invention, a weapon so powerful that once it is fired, the entire tunnelway will be lit with alchemic fire that will burn for many hours afterwards. Such a weapon allowed the Ironbreakers to cut-off key positions within the tunnels beneath a Hold from a much-more superior threat such as an onrushing charge of enraged Mangler Squigs or a whole battalion of heavily-armored Stormvermin. Ironbreakers who showed an aptitude with the Drakegun were further trained and formed into new units. When first used, even the Gromril armour of the Ironbreakers struggled to protect the user against the intense heat generated by the weapon. In response, Runesmiths have begun to imbued new armored suits with Runes of Protection against extreme heat, enabling these Ironbreakers to endure the heat of their own weapons and those Warp-fire Throwers sent by the Skavens.

Dwarf Irondrakes are those Dwarfs within an Ironbreaker regiment whom are trained in the use of the the deadly fire-spewing Drakegun, so it technically fits.

I would have liked if the wood elf could be a wardancer but thats a different story haha. Wardancers are tight.

I'm specifically talking about people who cry foul at the idea of letting the ranger use it, because it's just so super iconic for the IB. Which is nuts

Imagine that you are perhaps not super good at co-op games and have tunnel vision, making you run off and fight in stupid places. Now imagine the rest of the people you're playing with are the same. That authentic pubbie experience!
