Regarding the boomer thing, through medicare we are giving free healthcare to old people while not giving it to children/young people. Based on the data in the pdf link below, average per capita health care costs by age are:

0-18: $3,458
19-64: $6,626
65 on: $18,904

Like, for every old person we provide medical coverage for we could provide it for 5 children or 3 adults, and those kids/adults will go on to have a life and new kids and future earnings and pay future taxes and maybe build or invent something awesome. It would be nice if we could provide healthcare for everyone. The current way we do it seems so completely rear end backwards and BWM to me that it's really quite unbelievable.

Hello personal finance, I have a few questions for anyone who can help. My husband and I are looking to buy our ~first home~ but we are running into hiccups. He is able to get $4000 from his 401k for part of a down payment. We were hoping to get the rest from the FHA, but that would apparently put our interest rate on our mortgage at 6%, which we cannot afford 😫 We don't have a savings at this time, due to the fact that we just got married in October and had to pay off $8000 in credit card debt from that. We are in Arizona, our max home price we have been looking at is $210,000. We would be able to afford about back $1400 mortgage. It's just looking like it's not in the cards right now and it's very disappointing. If anyone has any options, or advice, I would greatly appreciate it!

It's mind boggling how bad America is with healthcare. When the ACA was being debated, lowering the Medicare age to 55 was tossed out as an idea. It would have improved health conditions to working age older Americans, cut future costs as there are a fair number of Olds that hold out in their early 60s with bad health conditions until they are Medicare eligible when those conditions are now more costly to treat, and it would have pulled away the most expensive patients from private insurance to Medicare which is much more cost efficient in its care.

(Someone recently called the plan administrator and asked for an audit to be done but I dont think that will have much affect). Last year my wife had $1700 withheld for her 401k but only $620 was deposited also causing her to miss out on nearly 17% interest. Can my wife call the DOL and remain anonymous or do they require your information. She has since stopped putting money towards her 401k but would like to ride the wave of this sinking ship and get as many paychecks as possible out of them. What would you gentleman/ladies do in this particular situation.

Bad with money: embezzling.
Worse with money: not doing anything about your boss embezzling your retirement contributions.

Also, the CEO is probably a boomer and may end up going to prison. Hooray!

Honestly it makes sense if younger generations don't know CD's because they've been largely worthless for the last 20 years. In the 90's we'd have little men and their wives shuffling in to negotiate 50 basis points or they'd take their $40k away.

Hello Reddit! We are Harrison Gross and Konrad Dabrowski, cofounders of Lucyd PTE Ltd! We are an AR smartglass developer based in Singapore. Our mission is to create a user friendly smartglass with a decentralized app store, that makes it easy to create, share and experience AR content.

A bit of information about our company:

We have 7 PhD's on staff who are all specialists in optics, AR or ergonomics.
We have the rights to 13 optics patents that we'll use to create our smartglass.
Our parent company, Tekcapital, is a publicly traded company on the London Stock Exchange (LON: TEK)
We have 11 signed alliances with app developers and other AR and security blockchain projects.
Our team has collective decades of experience at Fortune 500 companies, in technology commercialization, and in optical research labs.
We are one of the only token events facing the general market instead of just the crypto community.
We've already raised nearly $4m in our public TGE with only 5 days to go. For more information, you can visit our website here.

So if you guys have any questions about AR, smartglasses, or our planned blockchain app store, feel free to fire away!

Hello, our technology actually addresses several of the problems in Google Glass, which was really just a first foray into AR not a complete product, to be fair.

Our tech enables an ultra wide 120 degree AR-supported field of view, a form factor like normal glasses with flush LCD microdisplays, low light leakage for solid-seeming AR objects even in direct sunlight, and native Rx compatibility.

Furthermore, our decentralized, tokenized app store is very dev and community facing, enabling us to grow/scale the native content ecosystem extremely rapidly.

Take a look at our optics team. They are global leaders in AR and mechanical optics.

Lisa Marie Presley, who is suing Barry Siegel, her former business manager, for reckless mismanagement, inherited $US100 million on her 25th birthday in 1993.

In court documents, Presley claims Siegel sold 85 per cent of her interest in Elvis Presley Enterprises. He then allegedly began liquidating Presley's assets in order to supplement her trust income. She also claimed his business decisions left her with a $US500,000 credit card debt.

Siegel and his company, Providence Financial Management, have countersued, alleging Presley's "out-of-control spending" led to her financial predicament.
