I've never liked Sublime, yet I still buy every album 311 puts out. I think it's just because of the lead singer's delivery; there's something about it that strikes me as smug or something. Very subjective. Same reason I can't get into Cake even though, genre-wise, they really seem like something I'd love.

Cake is fun for a song or three but albums can be tough. Comfort Eagle and Pressure Chief are fun. It just gets tiresome because their lead singer's whole shtick is: "I am talking, and talking, and talking some more."

July 1997, my cinema got one with Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA.". We we're excited for August to arrive so we'd never have to hear it again. August's disc was unusable so we got to hear July's disc for another month.

I've had this poo poo stuck in my head for like 24 years now; Comedy Central in the mid-1990s did several current-events comedic music videos that they played amidst commercial breaks. The Buttafuco song. If you weren't alive/cognizant then, Buttafuco was a 36yr old NJ auto-body shop owner who was banging a 16yr old girl, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Fisher), and she went to his house and shot his wife in the face to get rid of her, but the wife survived and Fisher served seven years for aggravated assault. She was ticked that Buttafuco both dimed her out to the cops, and lied about their relationship in court, so she brought him up on statutory rape charges and he did six months. I was only 13 or so when the trial was going on, but that poo poo was everywhere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PToMdCYeE8U That's the only one I could find individually. I remember one about the Presley-Jackson wedding ("pick a gender, Lisa Marie"), and one about Mohammed Salameh, one of the guys who bombed the World Trade Center in 1993 ("na-na-na-na, I didn't make that bomb!") Apropos of the video: Knock-knock Who's there? Amy Fisher Amy Fis-- *BANG* EDIT: learned some things from the Wikipedia article: -- The way they met when she was 16 is that she damaged the car she got for her birthday, and she took it to his shop and asked him to secretly fix it so her parents wouldn't find out. Which would have made an awesome "how we met" story if he'd just divorced his wife and married Fisher when she turned 18. Other than the general sketchiness involved. -- Apparently from 2007-2011 or so, Fisher was a porn actress. Which I guess is one way to capitalize on 90's nostalgia. I'll be very disappointed if the cover blurb didn't say "Only 90's kids will whack it to this!" TapTheForwardAssist has a new favorite as of 10:37 on Mar 3, 2018 |

https://www.usgamer.net/articles/the-lost-child-of-a-house-divided-a-sega-saturn-retrospective Fairly interesting article about the Sega Saturn. (For you children on the forum, Sega was a flash in the pan console manufacturer in the 90s, who attempted to market themselves as the "adult" console. Poor business decisions, along with the Genesis having few to no good exclusives other than Sanic, led them to failure)
