if google (apprently actually the youtube division?) actually said not to hire white and asian dudes for a quarter that is quite illegal, and if they fired him for complaining that it was illegal that is also quite illegal. odds are good that is not what happened but if it is i can certainly imagine why they’d be desperate to cover it up

it's pretty remarkable how the people who get though the job interview process are the optimal choice for the position and not merely "good enough" (if they're a white dude) and of course if the person hired is not a white dude, well then they're always a diversity hire and not even "good enough"

it also gives them the bonus of 1) the psuedo-egalitarian actions they crave, "doing something for others" 2) they get to remake schools in a vision of the way they think they should have experienced school to begin with, a vision arrived at later in life based on how they experienced their adulthood success its like parents living vicariously though their children, except they want to live vicariously through everyone's children
