I think what they meant by 'isekai' protagonist is that Deku is stuck having to make due with being a clever turbonerd in a world full of people with magical superpowers.

rewatching bits of season 1 and 2 and it can never be repeated enough how much "you say run" carries this whole series. probably the best non-op music i've heard in anime

That's usually the kind of thing I hear people saying about Forces from Berserk. Though it honestly never stood out to me until I noticed people talking about it.

Bofast posted:All-Might sometimes seems like he's almost as big a nerd as Deku. He has just had time to grow up around it a bit more. All Might makes way more sense when you realize he is on the spectrum. When it comes to being a hero he is pretty much a god, but he really struggles to interact with Deku, his fellow heroes, or pretty much anybody. This is where his over the top hero persona comes from, it saves him from having any real interpersonal connections. This is where Deku can surpasses him, he can actually interact and coordinate with his peers in a not embarrassing way.

PMush Perfect posted:Deku as Peter Parker would fit better if he had good banter. Still, great power, great responsibility, etc. etc. etc. I guess, but unlike Spidey Deku doesn’t really need to learn that lesson. He’s already showing great responsibility before he has any power. From chapter 1 he’s already the most heroic person in the story next to All Might. It’s why All Might made him his apprentice in the first place. There’s certainly some similarities there and all but I can’t really see Deku as being modelled after or directly inspired by like western Superhero archetypes.

Deku's still gotta learn about how to use his powers responsibly, it's just a different kind of responsibly. For example, not shattering himself into pieces every time he tries to save someone.

Endeavor seems to be in his mid-40s.

Minor arguably-canon Vigilantes manga spoiler: All Might's got such a problem with spending every possible moment hero-ing that he does the 'make an excuse to leave and go be a superhero' thing multiple times in a single business meeting.

Yea I don't think it's fair to read in a diagnosis on All Might. He was probably shunned a lot at an early age before he got OFA. And his teachers were kind of unconventional so he really doesn't have a lot of stuff to draw upon to be a good teacher and even father figure to Deku.

I wonder if they'll ever give Vigilantes a show or OVA or something someday. It's a really fun spinoff series and I'd love to see those guys animated someday.

I finished season 1 last night. I thought it was really good! It was kind of a lowkey plot, the stakes weren’t ever that high in the last battle but I can see how they’re going to skyrocket in season 2. Please tell me Deku figures out how to control his power more and more Tsu owns, as does Mineta

I feel like Mineta gets worse and more creepy as the series goes on, so I can see someone finishing the first season and thinking he's not that bad.

Mineta gets a couple good moments in the first two seasons but keeps being gross and cancels them out. I wish Hori would've dialed the perversity back a couple notches and made Mineta the put-upon straightman. Iida doesn't really fulfill that role since he's just as down for the crazier stuff as anyone else. Mineta being a hormonal teen is fine- everyone being generically asexual outside of the main character and whatever token romance they got going on is kinda boring.
