Which is all well and good right up to the point where the hideously under resourced TIO (Which is a private enterprise body NOT a statutory authority :psyduck:)doesn't even get to your complaint for a decade.

Which is exactly what my brother did, which is what the Optus rep told him to do, and then said 'and then we will get the TIO complaint and contact you to say 'there is nothing we can do as there is no plans to upgrade the infrastructure at this time' and offer you a discount on your plan'

which is exactly what happened, but hes still paying $80 a month for 1mbps on a 100mbit HFC line.

You can deny their offer and get out of contract to try another provider who didn't over stack their capacity.

Gee I wonder if anyone could possibly suggest another ISP like that, maybe even with some recommendations of getting the service speed they pay for?

Oh well. Guess you're stuck slamming your dick in the door of life.

They actually are, because they are 4km+ from the nearest exchange, and Optus is the only cable provider in the area.

so they can get ADSL2+ but it will be the same deal. slow as hell or over sold and congested, just like the cable.

ADSL congestion is different to cable because it's an individual connection instead of a shared line but yes it's possible your brother is poo poo out of luck if there's no other provider yet.

But you're telling other people the TIO is a waste of time for reasons specific to your brother's case. Synth has NBN. Edit: as in, NBN usually means more providers get into the area.

It also means Telstra don't have any real extra sway and can't just flick a switch to change it over since it's not on Telstra infrastructure.

Not that they should be doing that on their own infrastructure, because the ACCC gets narky at them for doing it (employees can be fined for breaching structural separation).

If you do any online gaming or downloading, you're hosed. ewe2 lived on a 4g modem for years and it's basically the best way to kill what you do online.

I'd suggest dropping iiNet and going for Aussie Broadband or MyRepublic (who I'm with). Aside from a mixup during the relocation of our service when we moved last year, it's been pretty solid (apart from their routing tables getting hosed for 20 minutes the other day).

Take my word for it Synthbuttrange you dont want to do wifi bb its hideously expensive and has terrible latency. I know nbn has been painful but you soon won't have any choice because they're going to start cutting off landline and ADSL from August this year. And then the real fun for Talcum Burn the NBN Down will begin.

yeah but

4g: I'm using it right now on my phone.

nbn: hi we're calling our provider please hold *holds for 1 hour* hi our providers are closed for the night please call back tomorrow.

Victoria has introduced a bill that would make it the first jurisdiction in Australia to abolish a legal defence used by churches to prevent child sexual abuse victims from targeting their assets in compensation claims.

Known as “the Ellis defence”, it is based on a 2007 court case brought by abuse survivor John Ellis against the Catholic church. The New South Wales court of appeal found church assets could not be targeted by Ellis in pursuing compensation for the crimes he endured within the church, because church trustees could not be held to account for the crimes of individuals.

Ask not to whom the Anidavatar belongs; it belongs to thee.
Mandates aren't a thing in Australia, at least in any real capacity, and even if they were a secret one would be idiotic.

Basically he's saying the same thing every Australian politician means when they talk about mandates: I'm gonna have a big whinge because I'm an idiot who doesn't know what mandates are.

I have Vividwireless for secret reasons, and I can't play GTA V online (I can play Monster Hunter World tho, weird?) with it. Otherwise its exactly the same as ADSL2+ which is as good as I can get here
