It’s expensive as poo poo and horribly unreliable. If you’re earning a minimum wage and working full-time you’re spending like 5% of your income on travel alone in a city where the cheapest rent will cost you like 50-75% of your income. If you’re working part-time, that can easily climb up to 10% of your income. The whole scheme is absurd. Yeah, maybe NYC has some of the best public transport in the US but it loving suuuucks compared to any actually decent system. I moved out of NYC and the country as a whole about a year ago and the MTA is definitely one of the things I miss the least
