Re: renovating to be ~on trend~, this is a cute 1300sf Victorian (built in 1890) in Denver Colorado. It was sold in May of 2017 for $300k and promptly desecrated. Unfortunately there are no "before" photos of the inside. But this is the after:       where is the shower curtain rod   It is now pending sale at $515,000. I'm shocked they didn't rip it to the studs, pop-top it to double the square footage and sell it for 7 figures. That's what usually happens to flips in Denver. But if you are going to turn the inside of a house into a soulless greige void why tease us by keeping the old facade?

Keep what strikes a chord with you, and once you've assembled a decent pile of 'em you can start sorting through them to figure out what your aesthetic is.

I give this one the benefit of the doubt until I see some before pictures. A house that old could have been in any manner of shape and and at least they did a good job with what they selected. Because it’s a flip, it’s meant to have a basic design that the owners will presumably modify/paint/whatever to their liking, so it’s not like a finished design. OK who's up for some kitchen laying out? This is the space I'm working with. Everything in this drawing but the internal door hang/swing cannot be changed. I can't run anything new under the floor and in the ceiling is an iffy proposition. Measurements are approximate, but each square represents around half a foot.  I put together a prototype kitchen (all these pieces can be changed) and I've been slowly working towards this layout:  Good: 1. Lots of room to move about 2. Easy to get in/out from anywhere 3. Lots of counter/drawer/cabinet space Issues: 1. The prep table has no power for mixers etc. 2. The workflow is absolute dogshit:  My thinking is to switch the prep and wash stations which would lead to a nice circular flow around the room, but I'm going to encounter issues running plumbing and/or power. Thoughts?

Are Joybird couches worth it? We're going to be renting an atomic era ranch that's in amazing original condition and want to keep our furnishings period looking. We already have a lot of vintage tables and such but a couch in good condition is hard to find. We were looking at Joybird as an alternative to trying to track down a vintage piece.

Flame is the original, iconic color of Le Creuset. They do have trendy colors lately, but orange isn't one of them, it's been their signature since their founding in the 1920s.

A friend of mine bought a house with her husband a few years ago. The house had been extremely luxurious and trendy by the standards of the 1970s and then never, ever changed. Brown shag carpet, textured stucco walls and ceilings, sauna and indoor hot tub older than they were, sunken black bath tub surrounded by a rock wall and a full-length mirror in a carpeted bathroom. They've been slowly renovating it to be less hideous (the bathroom was the first to get the axe), and there's definitely some neat features like some exposed wood ceiling beams that are nice enough to be timeless. But I think she's decided to keep the bright orange kitchen sink, because it's actually pretty okay when the rest of the kitchen is not also orange.

There is a large brick fireplace at one end of the room that we want the couch to be harmonious with.
