I think the problem is that you need a significant number of trained engineers/scientists to accomplish a lot of modern society things (and I'm including stuff like 18th/19th century as "modern"). Like Senkuu himself has said, he can't figure out everything instantly himself (and would likely have great difficulty designing an automobile or something), and a new generation of engineers/scientists would need to be trained to spend time on the multitude of subjects Senkuu doesn't have time for. So basically you'd need at least 10+ years for a bunch of people to get an adequate education for tacking various things (including resource acquisition, like mining, which requires its own technology).
Skipping a lot of the interstitial steps in technological advancement will provide huge, huge increases in tech after getting past certain roadblocks.

The big issue is mining like you mentioned I think. Japan really does have poo poo for ore deposits and you're not getting much done without being able to reliably crank out steel, bronze, etc. or mine coal.

There a cheap super low-tech way to crank out bio-diesel?

Good thing he has a village of savants as a backup. There's also nothing speaking against reviving more people as they expand their infrastructure.

In general a lot of more complex technology requires a large variety of materials that you'd have to both find and harvest (and harvesting them might require its own technology).

Whatever society Senkuu produces would realistically involve a weird combination of really modern things that don't require special materials or a difficult engineering process and an absence of a bunch of 100-200+ year old stuff that requires some sort of actual industry generating/harvesting the materials in question.

A big question mark is the topic of other humans becoming "un-stoned" elsewhere in the world. It's extremely doubtful that Japan is the only place people "came back to life," and it's already been demonstrated that it's possible to have come back earlier.

the next threat will be creating enough infrastructure so that senku can travel to the other side of the planet to investigate the petrification source.

I mean I'd like to think that they'd be allowed to have time with no physical antagonist but this is a shonen jump series and I'm not sure I buy it

true but I think we're too early in for that. tsukasa's the first boss so there should be more between his defeat and answering the mystery of the setting

Don't get it twisted who your enemies are.
I think most of Tsukasa's idiot brute followers will either ditch him and go do their own thing or join Senku's side but Tsukasa himself will stick around. I don't think he's the final boss or anything but I also can't really see him just exiting the story altogether.

Honestly this seemed to be pretty much a given from the moment Magma was introduced, but since Dr Stone has been so good about subverting my expectations in the past I'm cautiously optimistic that Senku will find some way to win Magma over to his side.

Possibly with promises of more awesome poo poo like the Katanas, which Magma obviously loves.

it does raise some questions about how the village. didn't know not know about the lake at first? if all it takes is a gust of wind to blow it into the field right next to them, you'd think someone would have noticed :v:

The thing is when Senkuu says 'The most powerful weapon humanity ever made' my mind goes to WMDs and I immediately think nuclear, but that's way too much of a stretch for now.

The WMDs that he does have access to are chemical weapons (which was basically what they used in this episode after all) and biological weapons, which makes me think he's going to weaponize pneumonia and use his medicine as a bargaining chip to force the other side to surrender.

But your idea is definitely good too, and now I can't help but think of Senku's group using hang gliders to drop disease-infested rodents and rats down from above to infect Tsukasa's army.

It's supposed to be a fun science adventure so I really doubt that his what 10th re-invention is going to be War Crimes. I mean "The Story of How Senku The Wise Bravely Poisoned The Water Supply" whould be a pretty severe shift in tone IMO.

Senku strikes me as the type for whom practicality and effectiveness are all he cares about. I mean, this is the guy who handed his best friend a bottle of Gasoline and told him it was a love potion. But I can see why it's a stretch.

I sorta assumed it’d just be guns. I feel like basic gunpowder weapon is a closer step than nuclear equipped satellites.

My guess was communications, or at least the ability to understand what's happening on the battlefield. Info wars and all that.
