When the railroad was being made, thousands of Chinese workers were brought in to blast holes through the mountains, and lived in appalling work camps while the white guys got the photo ops for driving home the last spike.

Because there seems to be this thought that if they can prove that "Oh we've had women/poc as protags in media before" that the world will stop doing that in the future.
