A lot of the things like the botnik harry potter and fire and fury bot-written stories are slightly edited by people to be legible or given segments of bot writing and they pick the most legible version.

Yeah, 100% dude wrote absurdist shitpost fan fiction under the premise of machine learning to explain the inexplicability, bad judgement, and weird factoids that nominally would not be present.

i know that isn't the first one of these to do it but could they at least try harder than not at all to make it seem like you aren't just making it up, and just not say you MADE A COMPUTER WATCH 1,000 HOURS OF x

The way these work is somebody gets a predictive text engine, like what suggests words on your phone’s keyboard, and feeds it a bunch of text from particular sources. Then, they start to type stuff, and whenever they get a suggestion that makes any grammatical sense, they use it. So, they’re half written by computers and half by humans.

All of the ones I’ve seen have also had people editing whatever the bot spews out into something slightly more coherent. So instead of making the bot generate an entire script it generates a bunch of sentences or paragraphs and a human picks and chooses through that to make a “machine generated script”. Tbh after the first few I think most are just monkey cheese humor but with a layer of ~oooo tech~ on top

Yeah, it's either a predictive text keyboard or they wrote it themselves. Either way, saying "A COMPUTER WROTE THIS" is wrong.

Also looking at the text of the tweet again, I'm pretty sure they're goofing on predictive text stuff, not actually claiming that it was generated by one, mostly because you can't feed a predictive text keyboard video.
