Like I feel like all of us pounded our fists real good into that wall, but when I think of the face for people in their 30s, I think of my friend who swapped all of their statuses about activism and doing childcare for people who couldn't afford it and doing sex work that they chose to do for their current statuses about how they're dying of chronic illness, endlessly in debt for visits to doctors, and being ignored about their requests for basic quality of life in their last year or so. I hope these kids don't get discouraged like that.

Is there really any change the GOP can make going into November? They went all in on Trump after the nomination and certainly since he got inaugurated.

Aside from maybe Kasich and Sasse, is there anyone who can even save their hide or improve their chances by distancing themselves? All they can really do is hope the market and rest of the economy doesn't blow up and stay in office through economic happy times, right?

They all made their decisions a year ago and they were reinforcing that today with their "Nah, Lamb is an anomaly/Actually he's a Republican" delusions. They're just going to ride this out and double down and hope it works out. And we shouldn't be assuming it just won't. There's a lot of time, a lot of places, and a lot of people. The Blue Wave seems real but nothing is guaranteed and complacency and overconfidence kills. But they don't seem to have a plan or an option and they really haven't had an option for awhile now. They made their choice and have reinforced it again and again. I'm not sure when they crossed the Rubicon but I know it happened awhile ago.

And apparently they want to pass more tax cuts since they know they need to do SOMETHING and that's the only thing they've been successful at doing so far.

If the Democrats are half-a-gently caress good at messaging, any R who didn't abandon the party and burn all bridges to it months ago should be readily attackable.

"You stayed and supported the GOP while it propped up the most corrupt administration in American history. You are without integrity."

I'm not claiming it will work everywhere (it won't), but it's an open line of attack on anyone who is still with the GOP. The distancing needed to be months ago.

My larger concern at this point is around how effectively the Democrats can communicate their message - historically they're poo poo at doing so.

pornstar payoffs all the way down

quote:

A top attorney for the Trump Organization filed secret legal documents to keep Stormy Daniels from talking about her alleged affair with President Donald Trump, the first known link between Trump’s company and the effort to silence the porn star.

The documents, filed as part of confidential arbitration proceedings on Feb. 22, were made public Wednesday evening by CNN and the Wall Street Journal. The Washington Post confirmed their authenticity with Michael Avenatti, a lawyer for Daniels.

In a statement, the Trump Organization said it was not representing anyone in the Daniels dispute and “had no involvement in the matter.” One of its attorneys, Jill A. Martin, filed a document in her personal capacity while awaiting permission for another lawyer, not connected to the company, to practice in California, the statement said.

Also how the gently caress would the trump org lawyer have any reason to even learn of the existence of the arbitration in a personal capacity? she wasn't party to the NDA and for that matter Daniels wasn't even properly notified about the arbitration filing.

It makes more sense if you consider Trump’s lawyers don’t actually argue anything in court. Trump threatens to sue and you settle (or don’t sue him). He values loyalty above all, so as long as they’re loyal and know how to bully possible plaintiffs, Trump is happy.

Apparently all you ever had to do is call his bluff and take him to court and you’d win on Trump’s technical errors alone.
