As someone who has a SoundCloud account (but hasn't used it in years), I can totally get behind this.

Also, earlier it occurred to me how loving dope Radiohead's Up on the Ladder would work if sampled for a hip-hop song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8hFCl9g7lU

There should be more Radiohead hip-hop mashups. Lots of pure gold to be mined that surprisingly hasn't been as much as it seems like it should've been by now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ft8oPkgF0Wc

Maybe I should get more into sampling and just loving do it myself.

Outstanding afternoon. "I've often said there's nothing better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse."

The rapper says things then got crazy and camera was brought out to record what happened. 6ix9ine also says he “personally” uploaded a video to social media of the incident.

The criminal complaint states that three videos from the night were uploaded to social media, and detective Maureen Sheehan says she was informed the victim was 13 years old. But while speaking with Akademiks, Teka$hi said, “I don’t know her exact age, I think she was 14 or some poo poo like that.”

During the Akademiks interview, 6ix9ine also claimed the victim told him she was 19 years of age. “When she came in she asked me how old I was, and I told her I was 18, and I assumed she was older,” he said. “The way she was asking made me think she was older.”

Teka$hi also downplayed his own age during the interview, referring to himself as a “baby,” “a kid” and “17 years young.” But based on the rapper’s statement and the complaint filed against him, his birthday is May 8, 1996—making him 18 years old on the day the incident took place.

Just in case anyone is confused that this dude is a piece of poo poo and you shouldn’t be wasting your time on this gay earth defending him on an Internet forum.

And I’m saying that he’s so ignorant and dumb that he may have actually thought that. If he didn’t, then gently caress him. If not, still gently caress him but maybe he’s not as outright malicious in that instance as he’s perceived. This isn’t R. Kelly running a sex cult and having numerous allegations while being 40 something. This is a dumb loving guy who’s barely an adult, in a situation that we don’t have all the facts and allows for questioning, while possibly on any number of drugs.

Again, he doesn’t get a pass but he does get a little sympathy for having been put on this path since at least 13. Same as I did for Keef when he was on the come up. Also, 6ix9ine and Lil’ Xan are 21/22 but easily pass for under 18. They’re children in my eyes.

EDIT: a real question I have is why there aren’t more rappers going down the Gucci Clone path. It’s almost 2 years since he got out, and it’s clear his life is that much happier and drama-free. It’s disappointing that it hasn’t become a wave.

Right. Well. Id like to see how many people in real life(friends, family, strangers) you would make this highly woke argument of removing the blame from a pedophile(with a massive 69 tatood on his face and multiple music videos degrading women which is par for the course in rap but relevant specifically to this)and blaming his surroundings, which it seems you know about in quite a bit of detail because of your insistence on shifting the culpability from himself to the world around him. Fortunately the justice system works occasionally and actually punishes people who deserve to be punished which seems very likely in this case.

You know what a lot of other rappers and people in general have done facing similar hardships and disadvantages? Manned the gently caress up instead of having sex with a 13 year old on camera.

Weird how he hosed a child on camera and only got charged with using a minor in a sexual performance and got zero jail time. I thought that sort of thing was more serious.

I grew up middle class and that’s pretty much all my friends aside from a couple. What I’m saying isn’t even new in the concept of rap. “Product of my environment,” “the streets raised me,” and the rest. When guys push that and they’re found out as growing up middle class, they’re called frauds and “play gangsters.” What about the guys that actually do come up in incredibly hosed up situations? With the way that you’re talking, presumably you think it’s a shame that the system has created this situation in a million neighborhoods across America. It’s still a shame when the zoom is turned on. This is a guy who has a terrible problem solving capacity, who’s been on however many number of drugs for how long, has tattoos all over his face because he probably can’t imagine the concept of being 30 or 40 and what his life might be like then. He shouldn’t be maligned for that. He should be maligned for the terrible actions that he took, but it’s ridiculous to call on his tattoos as signs of maliciousness or evil, rather than the actions of a misguided person who just got to legal drinking age. Also, his entire life gangster rap has been a huge genre where he sees people that have come up like him have success and get rewarded. He’s emulating whats been around him his whole life. He’s not thinking this poo poo through.

Good for you if you never did dumb poo poo after 17. I’ve done some dumb poo poo, including a couple DUIs, and I had support and help and love in my life. I can’t imagine what terrible poo poo I could have gotten into if I didn’t have that, because my life is so far removed from that.

Try out some lo fi channels as well they tend to have a lot of laid back instrumentals.

Also if you like a g funk sound but instrumental, you can give Dam Funk a spin.

I went back and listened to Common’s Finding Forever since I didn’t know Kanye did most of the production. I feel like Common gets some shade here but it’s a great album and the production is excellent.

I have been really trying to listen to as much sample-based stuff as I can, especially the older stuff. So far I have been digging through Tribe, Madlib, Jay Dilla, DJ Premier, RZA, Dr Dre, Kanye, and 9th Wonder. I know I’m missing important producers but wanted some advice from this thread on what to go for next.

Also, are there any newer artists that feature heavy sampling I should look out for? I know sampling is harder nowadays with copyright and poo poo but drat if isn’t my favorite stuff to listen to.
