The InRangeTV dudes are giant dorks, this is true. Ian's facial hair and ponytail are almost as bad as decades old military surplus camo.

Dorks, yes, but their channels are easily among the best firearms-related Youtube channels. They seem pretty self-aware.

Just watched that video with two nerds, and what the gently caress kind of match was that? They took something pretty chill and fun, like shooting, and then just made it hard and not fun at all. I dunno if they were going for the military experience but they caught it perfectly That's like gun crossfit.

There's only so much you can do with a sport that's otherwise "stand still and shoot" with occasional "move around and shoot", so they compete in a bunch of matches that involve unusual physical effort to trip up competitors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whLQwSmG6ug https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGt6Ig4FzSk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbj4F6Gupuw

Also didn't 2-gun come about as a result of people not really digging shotguns and realizing they super rarely use them in these scenarios cause why would you not use a rifle instead?

Supposedly In-Range is moving to Pornhub following changes in Youtubes policy to ban channels that promote firearms. https://www.tubefilter.com/2018/03/21/gun-channel-in-range-tv-pornhub/

Okay so that Hard as Hell stuff looks fun as gently caress. I mean, I wouldn't be great at it because my body is trashed by it looks like a ton of fun. There's something about that plates video and running back and forth with a kettlebell for absolutely no reason really rubbed me the wrong way.

I used to incorporate duffel bag carries into my stages until I got told to quit it. Too many old people coming to the match that couldn't do it.

Yeah, that'd be me. I can get away with some light running and climbing poo poo and whatever but lifting big weight and bouncing around could seriously gently caress me up. But then again I just wouldn't do it because that is just not a fun time to me. Take the penalty or 0 score or whatever and onto the next stage. If that's what floats your boat though, gently caress don't let me discourage you. I just wish there were matches around near me. Nearest range that does that often is like 4 hours drive and that's a lot of time that could be spent studying so that's a bust.

# ? Mar 23, 2018 01:38 |

Dang yeah, a 4 hour drive is a bit much for a match. 1 hour is about my limit.

Just don't buy an AWB era mini-14. Ruger was pinching pennies back then. Sold mine over a decade ago. Don't miss it.

They didn't improve the mini-14s until this decade so the issues continued through the AWB

Friar Zucchini posted:...so? I "need" like two of my guns, that doesn't mean I intend to stop at only 23 ok like half of those were given to me as a gift but still Like I kinda need to somewhat justify the purchase. Like for example say I want to hunt deer, then the Mini 30 would be better, or if I want a plinking or smaller mammal hunting then the mini 14 would be more ideal. Also I'm interested in getting a under/over or a side by side shogun for trap/bird shooting. Lemme throw a smoker as long as I am making a wishlist.

Also I'm interested in getting a under/over or a side by side shogun for trap/bird shooting. Do you not have coyotes where you live? That was my excuse for getting a mini-14 ranch. I was 15, lived on a grain farm, some of our neighbors had livestock, and the county didn't give a poo poo if you shot a thousand of them, just don't do it during deer rut or something to that effect. I had the 5rd factory magazine, a 30rd and a 40rd banana. I never needed more than the 5rd, a pack would scatter too much after the first shot. It was a ban era, new in 1997, bought by my dad through a family friend tabletop ffl. I also shot raccoons and possum with it, but we were encouraged to shoot coyotes because the population was just crazy enough that the county considered paying a small bounty. I never cared about that, I just didn't want anymore of the family dogs mangled or worse. It was a pain in the rear end to disassemble properly the first few times, much more annoying than any M16 the army handed me, worse than a SAW too. The quality was fine for the $400 or so at the time. The only time I had an ammo issue was with the ruger branded 40rd magazine, but that was a cold night sitting on top of a grain silo (maybe 25-30 feet up) in the full moon light looking for eyes in the beanfields. I only ever shot some Black Hills branded ammo, bought 1k rounds when I bought the rifle. Sold it with about 200 rounds left for $500 to an army buddy over a decade ago now. Considering ARs were over $1000 at the time for even a cheap bushmaster, it was a good rifle for the time. Good farm gun. But it never did anything you can't do with a scout style bolt action rifle besides have larger ammo capacity, which I never really needed.
