Yeah you have to have SSS rank Majima Everywhere and be like 2-3 encounters from finishing it up, it's one of the last skills you get.

He can be beat without it though, just chug heat drinks and spam heat attacks if you're really struggling.

I got real spicy and assaulted the tower with like two Staminan Royales and nothing else, so I'm running off the poo poo I scavenged during the Jingu fight :saddowns:

I have him down to his last health bar using nothing but Rush style, but god drat he can heal more than a full health bar if he feels like it

Honestly it's kinda making this fight WAY MORE FUN THAN I REMEMBER

Yeah Kiwami was my first Yakuza game and I did that exact thing, only scrounging the admittedly forgiving amount of loving 24 Hour Energy bottles off the ground

It did make the fight however way more interesting, having to hit him with everything in the suite to keep him down, than watching my housemate at full Dragon land like two of the slap heat moves in a row before Kiwami finishing it under twenty seconds. Felt right to me at least.

Tiger Drop has more power the LESS Heat you have. Enough to straight remove a bar of health. Many people have prob made videos on it.

Also remember when I said Komaki was the secret boss in Hokuto Ga Gotoku? I unknowingly lied! It's Amon again. And his fight in this game... hoofa. It's more ridiculous than So's fight in 0.

I finished Yakuza 6 last night and I have OPINIONS!

I feel like they cut a lot of side content down to focus more on the story, which is good for wrapping up the main plot but really feels like a major letdown after Yakuza 0 so amazingly over-delivered. A lot of side missions are boring or chores - hell, one side story actually got me to give up on doing it (loving fire extinguishers) for the time being because it was so un-fun and a chore. Hell, there was nowhere for me to play hanafuda or koi-koi and that is upsetting because those are my favorite minigames please stop trying to make me play mahjong. Was there even a casino!? I didn't find it yet if so.

I want to talk about story stuff too (and will spoiler tag things because I'm not THAT big of an rear end in a top hat) but I don't know who else here can discuss it with me, heh.

Spoiler free hot take - you can safely hover over without actually ruining anything, but if you prefer to be COMPLETELY blind that's for you :

The Secret of Onomichi will largely go over the head of a lot of younger Americans who don't understand the full historical significance and implications of it existing. It is explained in the game of course, but American culture is so hilariously different I imagine a lot of people will go "that's it?" after all of that buildup. That doesn't make it NOT significant, because it is, but I think that's how it'll play out to a lot of people.

The ending temporarily destroyed me.

I think myself as a fairly sizable weeb, and all I could muster for The Yamato Mark II was an appreciation of half-understanding. You are right, the story does a pretty good job explaining how huge and messed up it is for it to exist, but since all I knew was that the Yamato was the biggest sea war vessel i had half-heard about before, it didn't hit me hard at the moment of hte reveal.

I'm super down to talk more about the story. I really liked it, but this is also my first time playing a Yakuza. Previously, I had seen LPs for 4 and 0, and even those I didn't go fully. In retrospect, the world did feel a bit empty, a lot of the minigames and sidestuff didn't hook me, but what did got me really well. As a first experience, it felt tame enough to not overwhelm, but I can see how as a longtime fan, it'd be too little.

I was destroyed for about a minute or three, too.

As a person who saw the ending and some other story stuff, I feel i want to talk story too.

For some reason Hirose’s arc interested me. From the start, you just see this old dude just do cool poo poo at times. And then as you’re going to find out the Secret of Onomichi, here he comes with bog standard kitchen knives ready to kill. Helps that from what I know, his fight is more a bait-out fight with a bit of pragmatism in play. As far as why he was gonna kill his crew, it kinda made me feel a bit said. Fuckin’, he just wanted approval from his father-like boss who wanted nothing more than an assassin to cover up the Yamato Mk2. And then when he comes out with it and tries to avoid killing Nagumo, oof. Just gets shot right there. I feel it’s made worse because he was hoping Nagumo and his friends would kill him in revenge for him killing their dads. No sadness or panic from him, just quietly accepts his death.

... now that I think about it, there’s a LOT of daddy issues in 6, huh.

Thanks for validating my hot take - I definitely had an appreciation of what it meant but I also knew I was gonna be waaaay outside of the cultural "average" on that and I, too, owe it to weebiness in the first place. And I feel that'll be at least a chunk of the core audience that's returning here, but I also feel like there will be a LOT of people who just don't get it that it's going to fall completely flat for. Luckily, I feel everything else makes up for it.

DO NOT HOVER OVER THIS IF YOU DIDN'T BEAT THE GAME

Reading off the letter to Daigo while he's writing in the room with Haruka, Yuta and Haruto while they're still letting you believe he's dead had me sobbing. I'm too attached to Kiryu - that was absolutely the hardest a game has ever hit me.

You definitely do feel the "cut" content, especially with how much construction work is going on in Kamurocho. There aren't many good side quests, but the good ones can be incredibly charming.

Still, lovely game. It hit me pretty hard a few times. The late-game Secret of Onomichi reveal was also very cool. Some of the implications were clear, but it took until the game really explained it for me to grasp the extent of that. Also, I really liked Kitano as Hirose a lot.

I did this once with one of Haruka's songs in... I forget which game... But it was just Kiryu yelling L-O-V-E Lovely Haruka! by himself in an empty room while the music played. It was probably the saddest thing I've ever seen in a video game.

Classic Kiryu. I just did the one in Yakuza 0 where we end up with a funny inspirational thing about a kidnapper. "The kidnapper man was so nice!" says the kid. The guy who was attacking me with a knife. Did put a smile on my face, I'll give him that, anything can be turned inspirational in these games.

Here's a question, tips for dealing with guns in these these games? Especially in 0, Kiwami, and 6 since I'll be playing all these. Any notable unlocks for dealing with guns, other than dodging them? I have the Beast mode thing to block them without falling down, but I wondered if there's a way to get shot and not be phazed? I saw Drunkards' Secret (Dulled Sense), says it stops paralysis and being stunned. I'm guessing this doesn't include the paralysis from being shot? Would be cool if it did though.

Some armor should have protection from bullets. I haven’t really messed with them, so idk if they can stop paralysis or if you just take less damage

If memory serves, you can dodge bullets much more easily with the improved i-frames Rush style gives you during a quickstep or block, and Beast style eventually gets a skill (Iron Gut, maybe?) which prevents you from falling over when shot or stabbed.

e: Iron Gut is a third-tier Beast skill that lets you block gunshots and knives while in the 3rd Heat bar. You still take damage but you don't fall down. The improved version, Steel Gut, reduces the Heat requirement to the 2nd Heat bar.

Majima has a Brawler skill that lets him ignore being staggered by guns and knives, but sadly it's in the final tier of Brawler upgrades.

It took me a while to get used to it, but I've now cleared every single challenge (substories included). You can basically ignore everything that isn't related to the box UI. The starting position is also a pretty good hint as to where it'll land, but the pattern is also fixed so you can predict it accurately with enough attempts. It's not actually that much harder once you get the swing of it.
