They're the yin to Meltzer's verbose yang. Agreed, I have really enjoyed their stuff so far, and the latest one is definitely lots of fun. I'm also a really new pro wrestling fan, and it's been very accessible

They're the yin to Meltzer's verbose yang. Agreeing. I'm really happy that non-traditional wrestlefans are starting podcasts and getting popular. Wrestlesplania, the Nobodies, I think maximum fun has one too? It's a good time for wrestlefans. Are there any theater nerd podcasts who dissect wrestling matches/angles in academic terms, because I feel like that is an untapped market. Actually talking and critiquing wrestling as an art form.

Go RV! posted:Agreeing. I tried listening to MaxFun's and didn't manage to get through an episode... Should I go back and give it another shot? Also, I don't know if it's necessarily appropriate here, but in terms of dissecting wrestling as an art form, there's always Showbuckle's awesome videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vx_pZWrHCng e: Also, I should mention that channel and RealNeatPuro are great resources for new-ish wrestling fans to get acquainted with NJPW. I dunno how many new-ish fans frequent this thread, but can't hurt to mention.

I'm a very new wrestling fan, so I appreciate this, thank you 🤼 I've mostly listened to Wrestlesplania, wrestling omakase, and two guys one sport, but I don't really care much about non-njpw stuff atm, mostly because I don't have time to watch the approximately 500 hrs of wrestling that comes out every week

This is a little similar to Showbuckle's Naito video but I really liked it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaGtnYrQyrk Naito is probably the best developed wrestling character....ever?

I liked when Dave was going into the stuff about the Moolah match name change and in the middle of it just started talking about the Zack Sabre match going on and kept switching back and forth.

I've never understood why people hate listening to Meltzer. I think he's hilarious, and a lot more self-aware than people think. Too many wrestling podcasts/radio shows try too hard to be witty, Dave and Bryan seem so natural in comparison

You can learn a ton, almost on accident, from your average news update if you can stick with it though.

Backing out would make them feel like they made a mistake in supporting it at all.
