What's the best Black Panther stuff to read I just finished the Coates run and it's a drat drag. Plot takes one volume steps forward two volume steps back on everything.

It's a sci-fi / fantasy story about elves who go on an epic quest. It's an indie book by a husband and wife team with some wicked loving art. It's got pages long fight scenes filled with blood and gore, a whole bunch of non-traditional sex scenes, wonderful romances, lots of comedy, stories about growing up and dealing with loss, a varied cast of characters who don't necessarily align to traditional gender roles, and more.

It's amazing, one of my favorite books of all time.

The original collection is also available online for free, because the Pinis are awesome: http://elfquest.com/read/digitalEQ.html

Definitely Christopher Priest's run. The only digital comic-reading service I use is Hoopla, through the public library, and all the volumes were recently added to it, so they should be everywhere.

Maybe the first American comic that reads like it was heavily influenced by manga. It's kind of Anne Rice-like, a lot of telepathic sex scenes and stuff and also a lot of character favoritism. I loved the reprints Epic Comics did in the Eighties (kind of like reading Claremont's X-Men at the time, I was a kid and oblivious to how weird and kinky it was) and think that the first series is really good. What I've read of the latest series seems like Wendy Pini is now doing fan fiction for her own material, which Elfquest always had going on because it was her own personal fantasy world, but now the storytelling seems totally lost and it's just condensed "this happened, and then this happened" for page after page if that makes any sense. But try the first bit of it and see what you think, if you're interested.

Thanks guys. EQ was something I’ve always seen so I’ve always been curious. With the Dark Horse sale and the extra discount stacking, I picked up the first volume for $2.50. Worth checking out at during this sale.

Everyone at the ECCC Vertigo panel got digital codes for the entire series of Sandman. No idea how big the crowd was, but I bet a few of those will be hitting eBay pretty soon.

ComiXology has a bunch of Marvel collections at 69p/99c, it only says limited time, so might be a 1 day sale.

Edit: just got a little less than £100 worth of comics for £6.90... sales good even though a lot of it is stuff I was holding back on due to mediocre reception.

There's some crazy stuff in here.

I'm so tempted by Strikeforce Morturi but I bet going back to it as an adult would be super disappointing.

Vision for $1 is insane. Also the collections are all over the loving place so it’s nice to grab a ton of poo poo but there’s a lot of stuff that’s in no particular order or well into a run so they’re really sticking to the “recent” collections. Still, you really can’t beat $1 collections. I’m snagging a ton of poo poo.

Hm, maybe they'll have the Marvel Team-Up trade(s) that aren't covered in Marvel Unlimited. Right now MU only has 36 issues out of a 150 issue run.

Edit: Nice, both of the first two MTU Masterworks for two bucks.

How much of a mistake was buying Forever Evil?

Teenage Fansub
Jan 28, 2006

Eh. It's not horrible (except for the art). Definitely a brain-off experience. It comes directly off the back of Trinity War, so read a summary of that first.
I thought the JL companion issues were the best parts if you can get those too. And the absolute best period of GJ's JL sprung out of it.

I enjoyed Forever Evil, and I say this as having hated all of Johns' Justice League that preceded it. But I'm always a sucker for villains doing the right thing, teaming up with heroes against far worse threats (for those uneasy alliances and "we're not so different, you and I" moments), and occasionally deciding they'd rather stay on the side of the angels.

The whole industry is. Single-issue sales in 2018 are down 15% year over year and trades are down 7.77%, and those are both after 2017 was down about 10% for both from 2016.

Granted, that's just physical sales, but I'd be somewhat surprised if they're making it up in digital sales.

On Android I just used perfect viewer. iOS I use ComicGlass. Those two apps are, afaik, still the best ones at pulling files from a network drive to store on the device with folders. Every other app I’ve used botches the core functionality while adding in nice but inessential options.
