As a current '05 9-2x and '08 Highlander owner, I'm interested to see how the Ascent turns out. Looks like Motor Trend are the only ones to get their hands on one so far.

I will be shopping for a replacement family vehicle in a few years, and I'm excited at potentially having a Subaru option to compare to the usual Highlanders/Pilots/Minivans.

Coming up on 60K miles for the '14 Outback. Looks like I need to replace the fuel filter, engine air filter, spark plugs, and brake fluid (probably throw in brake pads&rotors), and I'll put a new cabin air filter in also I suppose.

Is there anything else I should gently caress with while I'm in doing these things? Any good guides/warnings for the fuel filter? I've done plugs before and have a good friend that I plan to have assist me with the brakes who knows what he's doing.

So today I traded the project Miata for another FXT straight up. Needed the cam position sensor replaced (did it in the driveway at the dude’s house) and needs a new PS pump and AC belt, both of which he gave me. 2005 FXT Limited 4EAT (only drawback). Has 187k on the odo but only 38k on the OEM Subaru shortblock. Mods include but may not be limited to: full Invidia exhaust, VF48 turbo with Tial 38mm EWG, Grimspeed TMIC/intercooler ducting, IAG top feed fuel rails, TGV deletes, phenolic spacers, DW Injectors, Cobb SF Intake with some sort of silicon inlet, Mishimoto radiator, Raceland Ultimo coilovers, etc. Car was tuned by IAG. Leather is in great shape and there’s absolutely zero rust on the body at all.

Me have motors that scream to 10,000rpm. Me have more cars than Pick and Pull
Jesus. I just put in hopefully the last parts order to refresh the JDM EJ205 (and convert it to USDM cam/crank sensors) and finish the 5 speed DCCD swap - it feels good to be refreshing everything major so I can be confident knowing the last time it was all serviced but holy hell did all of that poo poo add up. It got down to even nitpicky stuff... like the little cam-belt-guides on the timing covers on the JDM engine weren't there. Which, I don't know how important they are, but Subaru put them on the WRX so on they go as far as I'm concerned.

Correct, I can feel the car slowing me down vs gravity. Low speed coasting sucks as a whole compared to my old '97 but I assume that's just the cvt. I'm not aware of an actual sports mode. '17 imprezza. I found http://www.subarumanuals.org/subaru-3339.html but I'm not sure if that's applicable to the cvt.

Submarine Sandpaper

My shifter is straight with a single left slot for manual with those paddles. I don't think there's a sport mode with the CVT, there appears to be no SPORT display for the Warning and indicator lights in the manual. I'll disable Vehicle Dynamics Control next hill and see what happens. That's what I want though.

Replaced the PS pump and AC belt on the new FXT today, and after I was done with that I replaced the PCV on my buddy’s non-turbo Forester, so we had 4 Subarus in the driveway today.

New PS pump in

O-ring was pinched so I will have to get a new one to ensure that I get all the air out of the newly-buttoned up system

Manual mode is what "sports" mode was on the old gearboxes, except fake gears because of CVT.

So I decided on an exhaust for my '11 WRX. I had been leaning towards Borla, but then I tripped across Corsa and went that route.

A shop installed it yesterday (as well as a Moroso oil pickup, for peace of mind).

All I can say is, it's amazing - it's how the car should have sounded from factory. Shop was in a big city, I'm 3 hours away, so around town it was amazing, and totally liveable on the highway.

So since picking up the gold FXT earlier this week, I’ve done the following:

-Tuesday I replaced the cam position sensor and battery
-Wednesday I replaced the power steering pump and accessory belts. This proved slightly tricky since the aftermarket Mishimoto radiator is massive and required removal of the e-fans to be able to get a wrench on the bracket and tensioner bolts. Tried bleeding the PS system and just got froth.
-Thursday I replaced the o-ring that goes in the pump feed line ($2.05 at the dealer) and bled the system again, this time with perfect results. I also changed the oil. The car had only 500 miles since the last change but it’d been a year, and it sat all winter without being started since the battery was flat. Magnet on the drain plug was clean, which is a bonus.
-Today, I drove it to work without a screaming power steering pump. Feels good, man

I bought my '18 WRX less than 6 months ago and I just woke up from a dream where I got t-boned by a co-worker and my car was going to be stuck in the body shop for a few weeks to get repaired. The rental my insurance got me to hold me over ended up being a bugeye STI in brand new condition.

So what's left as 5x100 from Subaru's lineup,

Crosstrek
Base Forester

They are different sizes, however the adapter moves the wheel to fill in the wheel well perfectly.

Someone should see if they could find a set of appliance white Jackman wheels that could fit. I've seen a first gen Legacy with them, and it looked interesting, similarly how this does.

Yeah, 05+ sti, 15+ wrx, 15+ legacy/outback, svx, and Tribeca are 5x114.3. impreza, forester, brz still 5x100.

I had bugeye wrx wheels on my old legacy a long time ago. I could use them for a while, buy a new set with tires, sell the old ones individually, and pretty much break even.

I have it on my Forester...I also live in Massachusetts.

Pros: the smart cruise control is awesome.

Cons: in the snow I hate the lane departure warning. It goes off a fair amount due to thinking I’m going in between lines when there are no lines.

The crash avoidance is meh. I could see it being useful if someone jumped in front of me or if I routinely texted while driving and didn’t pay attention to anything on the road, but since I don’t text and drive, it’s luckily been fairly useless.

The one time it went off was when I was maneuvering in a tight parking lot and moving forward with enough space and it thought I was going to hit the wall so it activated which was a little surprising. Other than that, I’ve just had a few warnings go off-the main ones I can remember are when I’m trying to swerve around someone and I get worried it’s going to activate on me.

There’s also a feature that beeps to tell you the car in front of you moved-again, like if you’re texting at a red light and not paying attention to the car in front of you. Fairly useless for me.

Other than the snow, the lane avoidance is more of an annoyance than anything.

So for me, the only nice part is the cruise control. Having said that, I wouldn’t bother buying it again. I also don’t like having to remember to shut it off when I enter a car wash.

Oh, and this time of year, driving in the morning towards the sun sucks because it gives a warning that eyesight is disabled because of the glare.

I can live without it.

Buuuuuut.....

The adaptive cruise control it enables is wonderful on longer trips. It's seriously good at that and well worth it if you do freeway kms, worth the price (Altho came as default on my car). Why anyone would hate the idea is kinda headscratching?

It's on my wife's Impreza and we love it. Adaptive cruise control works great and you can disable lane assist/departure with a button so I'm not sure that's a great reason to hate it.

Just so you know adaptive cruise control even works in crawling traffic. If the speed never hits zero, it doesn't stop rolling along, and if it does it resumes with the tap of the speed up key.
