I love Leinster and I couldn't be happier that Jordie Barrett has signed with them on a short term deal.
Lofty is actually speaking a really specific dialect called 'Wenglish', which is Welsh spoken almost entirely with English loan-words, but using the form and sentence structures of the Welsh language. It's infinitely more authentic than the Welsh dialect in Xenoblade 2, and I'm almost certain that the Japanese language track would use Kansai dialect in it's place? It's very similar, and also really fascinating to a Welsh speaker.

Ciaphas posted:

Already Lofty is good but he is 100x better if you mentally insert what they clearly wanted him to say when he says 'flip!' in that... Welsh?... accent of his

I think this is actually an English thing as well, but in Welsh, "flip" (and also "clip") literally means to hit someone, in the same manner that you'd discipline a child. In order to avoid 'getting a flip', children would often self-censor themselves from swearing, and it's now basically only used to self-censor the word 'gently caress'.

I'm 99% sure 'flipping hell' is a 1-1 analogue for 'loving hell' everywhere in the world, though?

So yes, Lofty is basically saying "gently caress". When he says "flip" and punctuates it with an exclamation mark, then it's literally being used as an expletive.

my biggest complaint so far is that chapter 4 feels like a weirdly long tutorial for kingdom building, and i think it wouldn't be as noticeable if it didn't immediately make you double back on spending all your time in goldpaw after all its poo poo went down

So if you are looking to grind army xp fast, there is a mission that you will get from your townspeople early on to fight the same person you did to get the town, it's super hard at the level you get it. If you go in they are clumped right at the start you can spam the bomb attack gain like 6 army levels then quit the skirmish and do it again.

For base building you might want to focus on the more unique utility buildings first. Researching spells for instance is getting you stuff that can't be acquired any other way. I've been totally neglecting weapons and armor so far since drops have kept me well equipped to this point.

Also a good idea to upgrade your storage capacity at the explorers guild ASAP because the starting level fills up way faster than the coffers. I intend to expand those soon too but you gotta get the kingdom to level 2 first so I've still got to recruit some more.

Is there a reason you would want to do this? The army missions take a pretty long time considering you get like 3 items out of it, and the second story one was easy despite the fact I hadn't done extra missions

Yeah I figured that out, and as soon as I researched the first level it turned out I had enough materials to upgrade a bunch of spells a bunch of times. Added.

Talking of that Trial, the rewards from the orbs is fairly negligible so if you are having trouble, don't worry about solving the puzzle in the "optimal" way. Also, don't overthink things because the solutions are literally spelled out for you, for example every time you need to turn a statue, the story will have a reference to "turning" or "facing".

I like it but what turns me off about it is the fact that the missions aren't limited and just respawn which makes it feel more grindy. I'll probably just do them as I come to them and for quests and stuff rather than my impulse which is to try to clear all of them as if they were quests in themselves.

The puzzle tells you exactly which way everything is supposed to be facing though. I found it a lot of fun.

Hmm, it's definitely just me then... I've enjoyed every single moment of the game except that puzzle sequence for some reason.

Also, Roland constantly merc-ing everything in sight with his pistol during the first hour was astonishingly fun.

On one hand I wonder what the budget with this game was. The lack of voicework in literally 90% of the scenes is astonishing bad.

Other part of me wonders if it's a good thing because I just heard Evans king speech at the end of chapter 3 and I half expected him to start babbling like a literal baby. "HAPPIWY EVAH AFER GOO GOO" like I was doing my best to not laugh and it was hard as hell

Edit: This is the most hosed kingdom in the world btw Royal Advisor/Consul is the US President who INSTANTLY chose to abandon his people, his Army General is a child murdering pirate that lives on impulse and nothing else, and the person who handles the kingdoms money has a gambling addiction and lost his entire forest because he couldn't control himself.

This really seems like a game that is absolutely lax about sidequesting. I highly doubt anything is missable in this game at all.

It's fantastic that this game has better gameplay, but I'm just as excited at the idea of this game having a better story/characters than the original. The last 1/3 of the first game had the worst form of storytelling: characters going from point A to point B to point C to get exposition dumps thrown at them

I fixed the difficulty issues pretty sure. If you just switch to Evan suddenly the game becomes dramatically harder than when you play as Roland because your margins for health get a lot smaller and it's all about charging that mana bar.

Think Roland is just easy mode for the story content IMO.
