Lol like humanity won't repeat the same goddamn problems that have happened since.

Which is why gun sales should be a direct action of the state and patent designs should be nationalized.

If there was an insurgency in America that the government wanted to put down, all they have to do is use the NSA to figure out where they live, then rain down drone missiles on them.

Let me know how well your rooty tooty point and shooty does then.

My point being, Finnicum decided to make his stand using his 2nd Amendment rights and oops it turns out the Feds are more well armed and better trained and they killed him no problem.

Cliven was smart enough to not get into a shootout with the Feds, thus not actually using his 2nd Amendment right to rebel against the government. That's my entire point, if you actually try to use your gun, you will get loving murdered by the Feds.

TLDR - you're not going to get socialism with guns

At the April 12 standoff Bundy said "we're ready to take the country over with force," had his militia pointing rifles at federal rangers, and ordered them to fire if the feds did. They were absolutely using their second amendment right to rebel. BLM gave him all his cows back and ran off with their tail between their legs.

Weren't the federal rangers several hundred yards away? "pointing rifles at" is doing a lot of work here.

i mean, he did up getting arrested and going to jail, and was only rescued from a lifetime in prison by extreme prosecutorial misconduct. but regardless, i'd say the approach the government took - letting them disband and then arresting them afterward - was vastly better than their usual approach of "shoot at them because we have an extreme need to always win every standoff."

Lol no, it was part of a discussion about electronic voting.

The end result of the conversation of course is that there would need to be some complex way of verifying votes (which could be more mystery and thus useless, or open and revealing too much information like timestamps.), or a spoofing receipt that can be given out if coereced (by a spouse or anyone else) if tracking is available (since without tracking there is no way to have citizens themselves verify votes without a complex process.)

Granted some people thought it was advocating for a 100% replacement of paper ballot system rather than a discussion of using technology to duplicate and enhance such securities in the light of existing electronic systems being hilariously worse than what could be considered a properly implemented system with either of the above flaws.

In the end it was agreed that New England has the best paper ballot verification system and it should be modernized via webstreams so anyone can watch the people count the ballots.

On the other hand, releasing the cattle in particular set a terrible precedent and the situation still hasn't been fixed nearly four years later
