If they believe the market is there to make money from them clearly it's more worthwhile to not sell them and just manufacture them and hook them up themselves for months until they're barely profitable and then resell them to idiots (unethical). If they believe the opposite, aka the truth (that bitcoin and altcoins are a bubble waiting to burst and crash to zero value), they are just selling something that clearly they intend to take advantage of people for which seems unethical in general. One answer is because they're a manufacturer who know a lot more about building assembly lines than data centers with massive cooling needs. Also less risk, it's much easier to convert the assembly line to build other stuff than to have a big old useless data center for when things go tits up. Note I don't necessarily believe in any of this, I just like speculating about this sort of thing.

It is interesting that Ripple and Ether have been declining with every Bitcoin price drop but get no benefit from the price rallies like they used to.

I believe the children are our future... https://www.fastcompany.com/40549479/students-are-using-their-loan-money-to-buy-cryptocurrency-study quote:The Student Loan Report surveyed 1,000 current college students with student loan debt about whether they were asked whether they used their student loan money to invest in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and found that 21.2% of them have Sallie Mae to thank for their cryptocurrency investment. Many students borrow a little more money than is necessary to pay for tuition and books, according to Student Loan Report. The leftover cash is typically used for college living expenses, but some wily students think that investing in Ethereum or Ripple may be a better investment than a bachelor's degree in comparative English literature.
