they definitely need to patch the spawning of events i destroyed a roadblock and literally walked ten feet and it respawned. i blew it up, walked 100 feet, and it was back again. like why should i even bother lmao they did a ton of balance patches and fixes for AC:Origins and this will probably sell just as well if not better so i'm hopeful my advice would be to make a beeline for Grace, rescuing her is easy and she's completely brokenly useful. also she's cool and says funny things.

My favorite spawn glitch is when it spawned a roadside baddies way way too high up and I idly drove past his body as it smashed into the ground at max speed. It was like the Scroll of Icarian Flight all over again. Companion story spoiler: I was not prepared for the Jess Black story. It kind of felt like it came out of nowhere aside from all these other goofy companions.

Maybe not the best shooting in the world, maybe not the best plot in the world, but this is hands down some of the craziest fun I've had in a co-op game for a long time. The action can just go balls to the walls and looks simply fantastic and the sheer amount of insane action movie moments just keeps coming. I'm putting together a little compilation of our first four hours and I'm worried it's too much material for one video. Also the music is top notch. Stealing a propaganda truck with a bunch of speakers strapped to the back of it blaring cultist hymns, parking it next to an objective and having the diegetic audio of the songs blasting in the background while cultists scream and die around you is so darkly satisfying.

the amount of crazy dynamic poo poo that can happen especially when you get several different vehicles in the mix is amazing also if you get in the back of a helicopter, your NPC friend will pilot it to your map marker, and they always fly close enough to the ground to shoot people or lob grenades along the way. e: if you've got uplay make sure you claim the General Lee car so you can cosplay Dukes of Hazzard with your friends

It's an interesting--and occasionally slightly annoying--experience, witnessing the contrast of posters who say this game is not hard enough, but sometimes too hard, but want more difficulty so they challenge themselves... Versus people who happily post about the most winningest combos and how much fun they're having.

This game kind of sucks? Wait, that's a step too far. It's worse then the last 4 Far Crys unless something changes dramatically. Like the coop is great, sure. But everything else is a step back. The gunplay feels worse. The guns for hire all kind of don't do diddly, at least the few I've found. The dog doesn't loving ride in the back of the truck. For whatever reason every cultist is a sniper, I've had cultists miles away headshot me from full health to zero with a pistol multiple times now. Or having that happen while driving. I get that it's to encourage me to use the guns for hire/coop, but boy it doesn't feel good at loving all. I'm sure this will get better as I get the health perks, but starting out it's not great. I had the Cleansing mission fail 4 times in a row because the helicopter would fly in, then the pilot would get shot by either a rando cultist as it was landing, or was killed as we flew off. Cool. Couldn't do poo poo to stop that, just had to restart the mission multiple times and replay that 2 minute defense. For two of those I fully cleared all the cultists in the area and he still got sniped by ?????. I'd probably be a lot less pissed about both of these if I could still heal myself without medkits, but nope. Gotta hide for a minute so regenning health can kick in ( which completely takes away the control/hurts the combat puzzle aspect of when to heal. ). Also every time I get behind a tree and hit heal without medkit and don't do it, then die before the animation would have finished had this game actually HAVE that feature bums me out. REAL nice wanting to customize my guns/flesh out my stuff, and rather then getting encouraged to explore the game world I see BUY SILVER? Thanks Ubi. I guess I won't have a silencer for another few hours. The melee cultists are way to silent. In 3/4 they just scream constantly, here they just shank you and then kill you before you can turn around to shoot 'em. Enemy variety feels half as fleshed out as it was in FC4. I've got gun guy, gun guy, melee guy, sniper, and MYSTERY VIP that usually just bugs out and shoots goo at me? I dunno. I feel like I'm just trashing a bunch of mooks. The nonstop popup of events sucked when it started, sucks even more now. Literally nonstop vehicles full of cultists spawning every few seconds, or civilian events spawning. I beat John Seed and took back the first zone, and went into Faith's zone. After 30 minutes of chilling by the border I was marked just by the respawning civvie missions that clogged up the area every 3 seconds. You cannot move without something spawning. It's exhausting and not fun in the slightest. Fighting a little group, getting back in my truck, and then having another group spawn before I can even move my truck isn't exciting game design. Story was never a strong suit in Far Cry, but interesting characters were. Vaas an Hoyt, drug doctor, Pagan Minh, etc etc. Them showing up and doing stupid poo poo made the story bearable ( helped by the excellent combat puzzle design, nice big fleshed out temple enemy zones, and good mission design. ). Here it's just waxing poetic or weird nonsense I don't care about. Also it's neat of them to offer FULL FREEDOM in choosing your missions, but boy loving howdy does it not really work at all. Every cutscene feels like a moment that ends up stitched together really halfassedly just because they didn't get it exactly right. And why am I not in control for a solid 50% of the missions? But like the biggest issue is mapporn. Jesus loving christ Ubi I get it. You want me to look at the neat map you made. Great. But loving hell, I'm 4 hours in and have found exactly one outpost because nobody in this loving world wants to bother telling me where they are and I'm not driving into every podunk trailer parks driveway to see if it's an outpost. I'm spending 90% of my gametime opening the map and slowly driving from place to place ( with the dog NOT GETTING IN THE loving CAR ) to talk to some jackass about finding something stupid for him, so he can maybe tell me an outpost is nearby so I can do the fun part of Far Cry, which is the combat puzzle aspect. Wait, I know another thing that sucks. Far Cry 3-4 had average 30ish outposts. This game is barely hitting 20. The gently caress is this bullshit. Primal at least had an excuse because it upgraded the forts and the Primal outposts tended to be huge things. All the FC5 outposts I've seen have been dinky little things. And where the gently caress did you take the forts! Like christ. They took a series which was built around the idea of the massive enemy fortress/combat puzzle and turned it into really boring random event generator. This is more like a better Wildlands 2 then an actual Far Cry game.

I can understand why some people were hoping this would be Chud Death Bonanza 2018 but given how often we Americans tend to murder each other en masse IRL I think it's fair for Ubisoft to be a little wary of going too far There are absolutely games where it is appropriate to have a nuanced political discussion. Those games are probably not ones where a relatively small mission involves gunning down a dozen randos

PsychoInternetHawk posted:Also I'm baffled by people who find this too hard because I'm generally awful at FPS of any sort and find it fine It's not hard in that the AI is good and will counter you. They won't. It's hard in that you'll mysteriously go from full to dead while moving to a point of cover to a guy with a pistol. Or you'll drive by a dude and suddenly be out of the car in the death animation wondering what hit you. Like I'm actually wondering if it's just a bug or something and y'all are getting a better experience then me. I have multiple times now been driving down a stretch of road with full health, then found myself in the death screen. No yelling, no red screen marks to symbolize I'm getting shot at, just one and done on the ground. My attack of the little town to rescue it ended multiple times with me getting spotted by the enemies and then being in the bleed out screen as they were yelling about me. I'm also basically unable to play the game due to events. I'll get into my truck and a civvie event will pop up. I'll go run over to help him, help him, then a bear will roll up and murder him, then another civvie event will spawn, and a cultist vehicle with more civvies will drive by. It's neverending, and to actually play the game I have to ignore 90% of it ( which isn't really fun, and also leads to a lot more getting shot while driving bits which lead to me being dead instantly. ). If those two things weren't happening this game would be significantly better. I'd still be pissed about the map and the way outposts are structured, but at least I would be having fun.

Okay, what the hell is up with the VIP dudes. They seem to have what can only be described as an insane amount of health, and in turn do an equally absurd amount of damage with whatever weapon they're using. I dumped five sniper rounds into one of them and they kept on coming. Standard mooks go down after one, and that's center mass - not even headshots. Has anyone figured out a surefire way to take care of these dudes? I'm assuming explosives, maybe?

i will say so far the random events are way too loving much. you literally cant walk five feet or stand still for five seconds without one spawning on top of you. i get held up for 20-30 minute on a random patch of road because as soon as I kill one truck full of idiots and loot their bodies a second truck arrives, then another, then another. just piling up into a big dipshit murder pile. it feels bugged or something, its absurd

The spawn rates are definitely way too loving high, can't drive more than a minute without running into road blocks and something that just wants to murder you. Enemy aggression is just insane overall, I thought I burned my marshal uniform so I wouldn't be recognized and yet everyone knows who I am! This would probably be a frustrating experience solo(but maybe not because the guns for hire are pretty fun to pal around with) but I'm having a blast in co-op, everything is just so ridiculous and it's satisfying to pull off missions without a hitch. The gunplay is solid, enemies aren't bullet sponges, tons of upgrades and things to work towards, and a beautiful world to explore... with the promise of more content to come? I'm fully on board, definitely nabbing the season pass and maybe deluxe upgrade soon. Far Cry Arcade on the other hand sucks poo poo right now, nothing but tiny maps or CS/COD remakes. If they support this game half as well as they did Steep, ACO, R6 Siege, and For Honor then I wouldn't be too worried about anything. Deakul fucked around with this message at 05:19 on Mar 28, 2018 |
