If we could find a way to tip the scales from having to "work to live" to "working if you want to" even a little that would be a good thing IMO. Some weeks with overtime and other things it feels like I barely get any time with my daughter and that is not good OP

Don't all the current, real-world examples of UBI have people working whilst receiving it and shock, everyone still works normally?

There is probably nothing really stopping me trying to negotiate it even now, but having a UBI as guaranteed income would be nice padding.

I know very little about UBI but wouldn’t CPI go up and everyone’s buying power stay relatively the same? Also your average joe would probably just take on more housing debt with that extra money so it wouldn’t be spent productively.

UBI would allow me to not worry about making rent every single time I have complications related to my MS and meds come up, and maybe even let me buy such extravagences as a mattress from this century that isn't full of holes or be able to afford regular servicing for my car. Seriously I'm at a point where I don't think I'll ever have any sort of advance or upgrade to my life without UBI becoming a thing, especially since brain/spine damage disorder doesn't even put you remotely close to getting on disability in this country anymore.
