I ordered the rebel aces pack from my local game shop because I want an excuse to get this to the table more. I have the Force Awakens starter pack, are there any imperial ships I should get that would pair well with that set?

I just got Rebel Aces, Imperial Veterans, and a core set. If you're just playing kitchen table and don't mind non-tournament-legal upgrade cards you have a whole lot of game available in those 7 ships.

Each side has a zippy ship (or two), a chunky mid-range ship, and a bomber that can also carry crew.

Good. Maybe then I won't feel so bad about not buying a Wookiee Gunship, Rebel Ladybug and two Gunboats when a local game store was celebrating its anniversary by selling their Wang stock at 15% off this week. I don't have poo poo all from like the last two waves.

I'm going to a local "generics only-no repeated upgrades" tournament and I can't decide between this two lists:

Nu, Omicron, Sienar, Scimitar
Glaive, Royal, Omega

Ideally, one of the ships (the tractor beam) should set up shots for the others. I'm still not 100% sure about the Scimitar or the Royal in each list. Still, more testing is required. I'll appreciate any opinion, thanks in advance.

I like the second list more, personally. Since you're escaping from named pilots, your discount-Fel has a good chance of being a great arc dodger if you play those cards right. The wash of shuttles in the first list really isn't my style, but I guess your mileage may vary.

I might actually swap the TIE/sf for a Phantom. Take the x7 title instead of /D title on the Defender, take a Sigma squadron pilot with Intelligence Agent, Sensor Jammer, and Stealth Device. Force them to split attention or be vulnerable. If they focus in on Phantom, stay cloaked and evade everything you can. If they focus on Defender and Interceptor, punish them with five-die primaries.

My personal conspiracy theory is that that's what runewars is - that the ruleset was originally intended for Warhammer 8e and had to be refitted for terrinoth-blah after the split lost them the IP. That's why Age of Sigmar launched with lots of fluff but basically no rules, and Runewars had lots of rules and basically no fluff.

As Davy is now on Legion as lead designer, is he off Xwing? That's seems like a good thing, his creativity will be much more easily accommodated by the granular nature, larger points, bigger scope and longer play time of Legion. And Xwing would be better served by someone with more restraint maybe? Thats just my feels. My impression is that he was always trying to push the boundaries of Xwing resulting in power bubbles, rather than refining. Also he was the driving force behind making bombs a big deal.

Yeah. People are clamouring for news on the Reaper and Saw, but honestly, it's still probably 3 months at the earliest til we get them. I'd personally prefer to see the articles quite a lot later.

Now, a Solo Falcon and Heavy TIE announcement, that seems pretty likely.

Hello X Wing thread, I have played this game casually with a couple mates a few times - that was more than a year ago. The bug has bitten again, and I had a couple questions for things I was considering getting:

- Can anyone recommend a good source of cases for X Wing stuff? Doesn't matter whether custom made or off the shelf. I've got a cheap plastic box, but it's a bit inconvenient. I'm looking for something which has spaces small enough to efficiently separate little tokens and upgrade cards, but with enough slots big enough to accomodate the large-ship bases, the ship cards, and if possible the one large ship I've got (Firespray).

- I was considering getting some of the newer Scum & Villainy small ships. I have always liked the idea of the little nimble guys (bought some more Tie Interceptors and Protectorate Starfighters just recently) but was considering buying 1-2 of the Kiloga fighter or Scurrg bomber. Are these fun to use? I like the look of the models and the idea of having 1 bomber escorted by my fighters, and the 'bullseye' mechanic seems like it would suit my way of playing.

This one will hold all the cards, tokens, dials. Basically everything except the large movement templates, and range rulers. In fact, when sleeved the cards are the perfect size to fit, it's quite nice.

For the actual ships themselves, I just keep them all in the original plastic bubble they came in, and carry those around in a separate bag or box.

Plano 5231 is a frequent recommendation. I fit all my small ships, dials, and ship tokens in two of those easily and have a bigger plano with huge spaces for big ships. I fit the big ships in the 5231 until I got my 5th big ship, then they got too cozy and I bought the bigger Plano.
For pilot and upgrade cards I use card pages and a 3 ring binder. Ultra Pro and BCW both make 16 pocket pages that are the perfect size for X-Wing upgrade cards, and the standard 9 pocket top loader pages that people use for Magic or other CCGs work great for pilot cards.

For your second question, the Scurrg is a really great and versatile ship. Nym is used in both Scum and Rebel lists like crazy.
The Kimogilia is also fun to use, it's essentially a Scum B-Wing that is better at missiles and has the cool bullseye mechanic. You'll probably be very satisfied with one of each of those ships.

That shot should have one red to account for how difficult it would be for the super laser to even target a snub fighter but one hit/crit result should melt whatever it hits instantly.

Nah.

You just make a movement-template-width obstacle the whole length from the aperture to the edge, and if you land on it, you explode.

I picked up an ARC 170 recently for just knocking around the kitchen table, and having just gotten into the game a while back and not really hilt-deep into lore I've started reading about the named characters and the ships I don't recognize because it's fun and helps me connect to the game.

And apparently one of the pilots they include is Poe's mom. And they gave her the most mom pilot ability in the game, and it kind of melted my heart.

Also the 170 has the auxiliary firing arc, so she literally has eyes in the back of her head.
