There is also a considerable amount of fretting about politics, which seems faintly surprising: given the band’s past political allegiances to Tony Benn and Arthur Scargill, I had assumed they would be quite gung-ho for Jeremy Corbyn, but apparently not. “I’m coming around to him a lot more, but not gung-ho, no,” says Bradfield. “I’m not one of those people that goes on about the liberal elite in London, but I don’t think he understands what makes the working classes tick outside of London and that is just hardcore industries. We’ve operated at our optimum as people when jobs give us meaning, and in the post-industrial hinterlands, he doesn’t understand that. I remember somebody at a meeting down in south Wales, an old guy, ex-miner, wanted his son to have a proper, real, blue-collar job, and he was saying: ‘What do you expect us to do, Mr Corbyn, make loving love spoons out of hemp?’ I don’t think Jezza gets it, I don’t think he connects with people on that level, which is part of the reason we’re having political problems in Wales.”

Nah, you're alright mate. I'm quite capable of listening to people who make good music but have bad politics.

I'd even buy an album you put out Cerv, assuming it was actually good and you're a liberal for crying out loud.

I think targeting subsidised fares for the young, elderly and low earners makes sense but giving it to people who don’t need free bus travel just seems wasteful. People who can afford to pay should pay.

Road infrastructure - repairs and upgrades - should be a priority. Buses and private cars would both benefit from that.

You can tax richer people more to make up for it. Using buses rather than private transportation is a positive so you don't need to discourage people from using them.

Under a free public transportation model (indeed, any similarly public service, such as education), the people who "can afford to pay for it" already did: through their taxes.

Further, the people who can afford to pay for it aren't necessarily people who'd be using the service anyway, because they already can afford to drive cars.

I imagine public ownership and management of all bus services in the country would introduce some additional bureaucracy.

A single nation state in tyool 2018 can't hope to accomplish proper socialism on its own. They get embargo'd to poo poo, and their country consequently goes to poo poo without being able to trade for resources not native to the region.

Work must be done from the inside of larger entities, to get there. EU might actually be big enough to pull it off. Maybe. Either way, leaving it is a losing proposition for all parties involved, unless the UK is officially kicking off the WSM and has a bunch of members lined up I've somehow missed.
