quote:

I've lost more than half my games since the codex dropped. Does my anecdote prove the codex is now dead? No. His point was despite playing in an area that he dominates in, his lack of answers to long range shooting is only going to be exacerbated by the beta rule. Those of us who don't stroll to easy victories are going to be seriously outmatched by a similar style of play.

quote:

The top armies at Adepticon had no trouble with long range shooting... cuz they had TONS of Imperial Guard with some Sanguinary Guard or DC. The shooty options in the BA codex can certainly be used, they just don't come with a beneficial Chapter Tactic / relics / characters / stratagems built around that concept - and they are so much less efficient, in every way, to just allying in IG or taking a true shooty codex:SM detachment.

If your "meta" is small or unchanging and you are doing well then who cares, move along; but against a wide variety of opponents, at some point - "points efficiency" matters... and we are on the losing end of that already.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/04/19/the-big-faq-words-from-the-playtesters/

All the grossest waac and Soup spammers are behind this FAQ. Mike Brandt's "Blood Angels" have tons of IG to tank wounds and cover every base, they can easily afford to wait a turn to deliver. Times like these I hate that everyone's choice is being dictated by the tournament community.

quote:

I'm sure most of us must have some experience deep striking on turn 2 though, even prior to the FAQ. I've tried it many times and sometimes it actually is a good tactic... yet sometimes it's crippling to wait.

Thematically falling from the skies is definitely our thing.

I should say, my second army is Death Korps of Krieg, arguably the least optimized IG army, and I always feel like I'm playing on easy mode. Guess I should just play soup and make my friends hate me haha.

It takes around 5 hours per model. The main reason I was thinking about Necrons is that it lets me use quicker techniques. Things like drybrushing metal, zenithal shading, etc.

I think based on the response here I will POWER THROUGH with my Primaris.

Honestly I think it's just that my schedule over the last month was nuts. I was gone more days than I was home. Things will improve significantly now and I should be able to get back some momentum.

Nope! I'm only taking a single relic, which is free. You can use the stratagem to take multiple. Aerotech Specialists. If you take 2 it's -1, and if you take 3 it's -3. Forgeworld doesn't matter for this one because the relic is good for any Adeptus Mechanicus Character, it's not forgeworld specific (even though the Relic is).

Battalion (5) + Battalion (5) + Supreme Command (1) + Base (3) = 14.

But Cawl already has a relic. I thought you had to pay to add the additional ones. If you didn't have Cawl, then you'd get 1 free relic. I could be wrong on this though.

He doesn’t have a relic you can buy. I think the rule means you can’t just give him any other relics aside from the named weapons he has.

I think everyone should have an ork army or play as an ork army at least once.

I decided to be an ork player in a recent armageddon campaign to flesh out the numbers. By holy gently caress are they some of the best times I ever had playing this game.

True, as an army they are at a disadvantage. Its also true that my aim to kit bash Every ork vehicle out of beer cans and cheap kids toys has nearly driven me insane.

But it's worth it every dam time I push my kit bashed kill tank up the field and it makes crappy wind up engine sounds (think thoses little toy cars that make engine noise when you push them)

If you slap together an army with minimal effort you'll forever regret it whenever you pull the minis out again. At least that's my personal experience.

Conversely the stuff I put effort into (even if it's garbage compared to genuinely talented painters) I can still look at today and enjoy.

Given that it's two days away and fully painted is worth equivalent points to a win and a draw, I'd go with whichever one is painted and based!

Hmm. The closest to nearest painted is world eaters. Not quite sure I've got quite enough time depending on what counts as painted. Although I've only actually got two character models unpainted and even they have base paint on.
