It’s probably per repair. Repairs are (surprise) very complicated, there’s a thread on the Matrix forums that explains it in detail that I can’t find at the moment. It works something like a ship receives a certain number of repair points each day from the port, which is of course modified by a ton of different factors, and when the ship’s repair point bar is full, a repair occurs. At a large repair shipyard with good naval support that will probably be daily, though.

Ship repair, and especially submarine repair, is one of the more annoying parts of the game. Actual repair shipyards only exist in a few places so there’s a lot of juggling of repair ships and shuttling ships back and forth from forward bases to repair shipyards.

Following up on this, here is the thread I mentioned with info on how repairs work. :laffo:

Nope! They have carriers near Truk!

We get a rare strike on a destroyer.

The Hornet II proceeds to maul the ASW ships stationed at Truk. I had put them into a combat group to try and hit the landing craft, but this is a different game entirely!

They pay the bomber tax.

This is not a bad trade.

This is better though!

Truks' two dive bombers meet a sticky end.

This is a second carrier group.

We find and obliterate a group of army HQ's.

It's just a matter of time for this force!

The question now, do I sally the Kido Butai to engage? I feel like I need to at least try – I just got another two squadrons of dive bombers, so they just gained 40+ planes.
Lets lose a carrier as well as a battleship eh!

Trading points here.

Impressive coordination by the AI here if it's actually covering its landing with a carrier task force. Still time for it to turn out that its sending base forces in as the first wave, of course.

Still confused as to how a Japanese Patrol Boat is worth just as many points as a US Destroyer.

Does the KB have full airgroups at least or close to it?

You've got a good shot if you can only engage the group near Truk. It's only a CV and a CVL so hopefully you can overwhelm them with numbers.

Grey have you noticed that you still have over 700av points of buffer in Manchuria? You really should take the time to enable maximum exercise potential for the army by moving at least 600av worth of rookies to participate in operation Charnel House.

It'll look good on your resume if you can add "Showed excellent leadership and motivation, enabling thousands of warfighters to achieve their true potential across the empire"

It reminds me of the current trend of Japan to make ridiculously outsized "helicopter-destroyers".

This destroyer comes in at over 20 000 tons, and is nearly as long as the Yamoto

I know that the destroyer classification sort of fits, since it's intended role is ASW.

For the longest time I thought the designation actually stood for "Carrier Vessel". That'll teach me to assume that a US Navy hull classification symbol is in English :v:

AFAIK, they usually are, but "CA" was already used for Cruiser, Armored, so bird farms got assigned the classification symbol CV.

The game is like 90% logistics and you spend waaaaaaaay more time with your non-combat units than your combat units. The AI is not great but the game without non-combat units would be completely different. I don’t mean this as a knock against Grey but this LP does not give you a good sense of just how much of the game revolves around stuff that is at best indirectly connected to combat.

From July 1944 to December 1945 she was tasked to Pacific Coast Command (unallocated).

Sounds like she should still be en route, arriving in May, then being refitted til July in Vancouver

Well, it is a Corvette, which is given the KV designation.

And it was a part of the Pacific Fleet in 1944, so there's no reason why it couldn't be re-routed for convoy escort duty in April. Not only that, but in REAL LIFE it went for a refit, but such refits are not mandatory, and the player can choose to ignore doing so.
